You fools and your external drives...

I got a 1TB internal drive to fix my problems (and patch further ones with division of files between drives, and handle other issues). I have no intent to have an external. Not unless I need more space; but then, I I'd go for one that allows firewire (faster connection between system and external; but also because my machine also has them. And larger sizes if possible.). Then again, my computer is rather cramped inside. It was a challenge even trying to fit it in there without screwing things up.

Anyway, reason internal>external: SATA cables rock. Fastest transfer until USB 3.0; or so I heard.

Wat?

Is there a big folder called PRAWNS, or are you impling i have prawn porn?
I did a little hacking into your folder and found this. How do you explain it?

Spoiler: Evidence, NSFW (click to show/hide)

Disk cleaning got me up to 7.5GB.

I think that should have dealt with the temp files, depending on what ye had checked in the clean up window (then again I don't know how it works on vista).

Use http://lifehacker.com/219058/geek-to-live--visualize-your-hard-drive-usage

Good tool to see where all the space is going visually.

That stuff is great!
Now I know that I don't want to delete ANYTHING of what I have, though it takes up all my space XD

I need to get an exdisk XD

is there anything that allows you to see how fragged your harddrive is? I find that vista defrag is better, but much less informative.

I personally use defraggler, you should google it, it is freeware.
It will show a list of every defragmented file you have on your disk and gives you the possibility to defrag only one or several files. Great stuff.

Defraggler is good. Also pick up CCleaner which is made by the same people. It makes cleaning up useless temp and cache files, uninstalling programs and cleaning up the registry a dream.

Another good tip is PageDefrag which you can set up to defrag page files and other system files during startup. Won't free up space but can often increase performance.

The last one never worked for me, it never would actually defrag it :S
Anything I could have done wrong?

Temporary Internet Files.  It'll get ya every time.  Either tell your computer (browser I think) to clear it out, or do it manually.  I checked one time and there was like 30 gigs of accumulated junk in there.

My solution is simple. Someone here even mentioned it before earlier.

Every time I find myself wondering why I don't have enough hard drive space, (Mind you, not what to delete, but WHY I need to delete) I buy the latest hard drive I can get for under $150. Lasts for the next few years without me having to go all looney on trying to find out what to keep and what to delete every few days.

Hmm... I downloaded defraggler. And installed it. Now it has an error and closes every time I try to open it. Any suggestions?

Got any more to work on than just "has an error"?

In any case, you need to run it from an administrator account. I think the same applies to PageDefrag, but not sure.

Yes, yes, done it all. I open it, sometimes it opens properly, sometimes it doesn't let it open. Every time it closes and the message "Defraggler has stopped working" pops up.
