Go to Control Panels and go to Install/Uninstall Programs. You should see a list of programs you have, so find the programs you dislike and uninstall them one by one.

I did that already, all the 30 or so programs never get to GB size.

I'll try that.

Eventually files just build up, running disk cleaner and defrag should help. Don't forget that eventually word files and picture build up to. I often hover around 10 gigs on this comp which has about 250 total gigs or somewhere around there. Quite frankly theres so much crap on this thing when I finally get a new comp I'll be freaking happy as hell.

Try disk defragging, defragger works well.

Disk fragging works better if you're using Vista.

I'm using vista, and i hate it.

IT TAKES UP 40 FREAKING GB! THATS 1/3 OF MY MEMORY! GONE!
(my computer broke and the friend that fixed it decided to install vista. I haven't talked to him since)

I have a dell, there are no places for me to add decent memory cards/video cards.

I'm never buying a dell again.

You mean hard drive right? Check your temporary files. Sometimes the prawns you look at are cached in the browser. Or sometimes you open up a zip/rar file by double clicking it... it extracts to a temporary folder, and often forgets to delete itself after you're done looking at the contents. Delete that temp folder.

Oh, and check out your My Documents, there's usually a lot of junk in there too. And you should probably make sure that nobody else using your computer has a secret prawn stash somewhere.

Music, video and images also take up a lot of space.

I'm running Vista on a laptop with 1 gig of RAM, and integrated graphics. It makes me want to rip out my fingernails with a rusty corkscrew.
