So...recent comments by Activision place Diablo 3 well into 2011 for release because '2010 is too busy'. My purchase of Torchlight looks more and more fortuitous

I am still fighting lizard men and stuff, how much farther is it?

I have it on the hardest setting, but I play for a while befor ei go to sleep so I am not clocking the hours. I am savoring the ride.

I looked around the TorchED tool a bit, and there is some powerful stuff I have not even seen used in the levels I have been on. It is possible to link up some complex triggers for some puzzle-like levels. The scripted events seems pretty easy to work with. In fact, the logic interface is a GUI, when you click and drag triggers to triggerable items.

So, which one of you is going to make the awesome DF dungeon?

Got distracted by other games, and got irritated that I died last time I played.
I do not like dying. At all.

I bought it a week ago or something, after playing the demo. It was fun for a few days, then it just became *grind* *look at new loot, see it's all worthless shit compared to my gold equipment* *give shit loot to pet* *sell level 20 shit loot for the same pittance that level 1 shit loot sells for* *grind* *grind* *repeat*. :|

Having played on normal, hard, and very hard, only normal seems to drop good loot with any regularity, of course that could just be because I cut through it so much faster that there's simply a higher volume of loot to sift through. And even normal gets hard after the necropolis. Well, hard in the sense that while you slaughter everything left and right with ease, if anything slips past the carnage it tears you to shreds. Even more true on hard, and from the beginning in very hard everything can tear you to shreds, except it takes much more to bring down even the cheap cannon fodder that swarms you by the dozens, so most of that is just spent running around in a circle trying to get out of their range, while trying to pick them off with the extremely shitty equipment that drops. >:|

I've played all the classes on very hard, and only managed to get through the first level with the vanquisher (currently level 12, and just through  the necropolis), I played normal with vanquisher (15 and through the ruins), normal with melee vanquisher (20 and halfway through the prison), and hard with the alchemist (19 and just reached the prison). Melee vanquisher has to be the most fun, and alchemist is just LOL BEAMY BEAMS OF SPAM. :|

So... yeah. I'm kind of letting it get out of my system before starting to play again, I burnt out on it over the weekend, fueled by my intense hatred of every STALKER mod I tried (LURK renders it absolutely unplayable, even on the lowest settings, while leaving everything looking like shit, and crippling the interface even more than OL did, which also left it absolutely unplayable... >:O). I liked it, so I figure it's best not to push it to the point where I end up hating it, so I can play it at some point in the future.

Yeah, that happens to me a lot, especially on games without an auto-save. I die, lose several hours of work, and stop playing for a few weeks. Shouldn't be a problem, but I always forget to save except when I'm quitting...

This game got boring after it became: Level up, Get new spell tier, pump new powerful spell, kill everything, level up, level up ,level up, level up, level up, Get new spell tier, pump new powerful spell, kill everything... wait a second...

and I just got the laser beam which tracks each hit on a monster and calculates crits individually. It's OP'd.

Play a different class, or a different build.
Other than that, wait for mods.

The game is shallow due to the lack of anything really there other than pretty well polished ARPG Dungeon crawling

The problem is the lack of skill uniqueness. Increasing a spell only increase damage, doesn't add any new effects. It's not like you'll get more and more chain bouncing in ember lightning, it's always going to be 2 enemies

Well, that's kinda sad. As far as I remember, almost any game with chain-something had the "# of jumps" increased with leveling :).

Just a heads-up:

Torchlight is $10 (half price) on Steam this weekend.

Exactly what I was waiting for, so I snagged a copy.

Ugh, I buy the game and it goes on sale two days later...

Awesome game! Basically just a Diablo 2/Fate clone, but feels more polished than either of them. Could use more classes though.
