Stealth Games! Oh, the fun!
« on: October 25, 2009, 11:16:54 am »

I am currently looking for a stealth game to distract me! Now, if you kind folks can point me in the direction of any decent ones, that would be awesome.

Well there are these popular Splinter Cell games, I prefer Metal gear though. There isn't really much where you have to sneak, I think theres this game where you have to sneak around LA and kill Vampires, but that makes me think of Metal Gear combined with 28 days later.

I third the Metal Gear series (MGS 3 is my personal favorite of the bunch), but there's also the Thief series.

Thief I, II, and III are definitely stealth games. The whole point in the game is that you cant take on enemies head-on and must either sneak by them or attack them by surprise without them making any noise to alert other enemies. Most any enemy can rip you to shreds or at least hurt alot plus warn all the enemies around if you try to attack him head-on.

Thief series rocks. I like the first one a lot!

EDIT:
OOO YOU! YOU BEAT ME!

OK how about Deus Ex, if you played as a hacker you could stealth through a lot of the fights or sneak into advantageous positions before attacking.

The Art of Theft
I must elaborate upon this.

This is a 2D stealth game based around Trillby, a prominent character in the Chzo Mythos. It is a little short, but hunting the unlockable suits should extend the gameplay enough.

Death to Spies

I have to warn you, it's not easy. On 'easy' mode, I had to reload over 20 times before even getting trough the first door without someone noticing. Granted, I suck at sneaking ;)

Were you using Splinter Cell sneaking or Metal Gear Solid sneaking?

Splinter Cell Stealth is sneaking around in dark corners, moving across rafters and dropping down at the exact right moment to crack a neck.

Metal Gear Solid stealth is either stay in a shadow/ditch/behind a wall somewhere until the blind AI walks past you and you knife him in the back/sleeping bullet him in the head or just run in guns blazing 'till there is nobody left to notice you sneaking around.

I just remembered. Hitman: Blood Money. Or the whole Hitman series for that matter. While not stealthy in the traditional sense (people most often don't immediately want to kill you once they see you and you can dress up as one of them and "blend in"), you are rewarded for doing things more stealthily, and even making the assassinations look like accidents.

I also remembered Covert Action had a stealth-action portion (when breaking into a building). Although it didn't force you to be stealthy, you could get taken down pretty easily, so it was advisable. You could also take and wear enemy clothing.

Also, for a bit of history - the first stealth game (to my knowledge/that I played) - Castle Wolfenstein! :D

How about Stealth King? That's an interesting stealth game. The only stealth game that I have, by the way.
