Channel filling, via detailing/smoothing
« on: November 03, 2006, 05:45:00 pm »

This is somewhat of a bug, but at the same time, also demonstrates that the engine can sort of fulfill this functionality.

If you designate an area for smoothing, and then dig a channel through it before the engraver reaches it, the engraver will come along and fill the channel back in, creating smooth floor.

As a possible quick solution to people's interest in the ability to fill channels back in, it might be possible for the engine to do this as valid behaviour if channels were allowed as a valid target for smoothing.

I wonder...  is the channel really gone, or did the engraver just drop a flattened floor on top of it?

The channel is really gone, I did this some weeks ago as I was channeling water for my moat.  It also makes bridges disappear.
