Not only that, but I think what he's talking about is also this weird zombie feeling you get from NPCs that look almost real, but not fully, and they behave almost realistic, but not fully.

Its just very weird. Either move back to a bit more abstract display or break on through to the other side.

At least, that's what I get from this, and I found it interesting. That's something you usually dont notice just like that, but it's there, and its deffo funny.

I thought to beat the current gen (not counting wii) you need at least 100 bucks for the GPU and a bit more than 100 for CPU and Mobo. Closer to 200, actually. PSU, for simplicities sake, is around 100. That leaves me at 400 minimum, 500 and I build a complete box.

Personally I dont think you can beat a console in bang/buck the minute you take it out of store, you need to give it a few months, at least,  before it pays off.

If you can do it with 300, good for you, I sure cant  >:(
80 for the gpu in my case, which is... roughly 5 times the raw power as current gen console GPUs. CPU wise, its a clusterfuck. They put very expensive CPUs in consoles for some reason. But otherwise, you can get a nice quad fo under 100 now, and an awesome dual core for ~60. The mobo can be under 100 if you go AMD, as my 50$ one has all the features I need, as well as support for 8-16 gigs of ram, 4 ram slots, AM3 CPUs up to 140w, etc etc. PSU depends on if you blow it on a major brand name, or go with a lesser known but high quality one, like HEC. Only about 40-60$ for my HEC PSU, which has 30 amp and 22 amp rails. Everything came in at about 300 :P

There was a thread on this forum where I handpicked parts for this guy, it could run crysis and cost under $500.

Way more powerful than a PS3, so yes, if you know what you're doing, there's no reason to fork out a retarded amount for a "gaming computer". I probably paid $900 for mine overall but I got an i7 and 2 4850s in it, I can run several servers on it at once while rendering video and playing a game.

Now in terms of the engine. I can't fucking wait for photorealism to hit, if only because the damn programmers will have to worry about gameplay over graphics once the graphics e-penis rush is over. derp.

stuff
Nice. Sounds reasonable, too, I catch myself calculating with older prices it seems.

But are you sure current vidcards are that far ahead? You see me astounded! Seems even easier to blow the toy computers outta the water now ;D

I just wish they gave me little big planet for PC (it aint THAT good, but its surely nice...). I mean come on, who on earth is gonna believe this game could not be "ported" to PC... But I despise the very idea of "exclusive" titles, this is just an insult to even the dumbest of gamers. They are trying to coerce you into buyin a certain system, mostly, and thats just not right.

Lol, didnay thunkofit that way  ;D

Gaming Computers are expensive because

a) It is, of course, obligatory to have an absolute badass cases to make people feel l33t
b) It, partially due to a), necessary for the gaming PC to be from Alienware, Vodoo or another fucking overpriced brand

All in all, it's a fucking orgastic idea to me if you show up with a cardboard case and royally buttfuck the shit out of other guy's PS3s and 2'000 US $ Aurora ALX.

Also, putting together a computer is quite easy, if you inform a bit.

And, on the topic, I dislike Crysis, because it's all too much graphic whoring to me. Also, normally I would say that violent games are harmless except to people which are going to 'blow up' anyway sometime, but if it gets extremely photorealistic, that may change something. Actually, it's disturbing how CryTek and others strive to make virtual killing more realistic.

Heh, I bought a black case for about 30 bucks. It was rather cheap, because it's comparably big and it's a not so well known brand.

But I looked at that thing and saw right away how easy it would be to cool it with just a few smartly placed fans (for which I forked around 5 bucks each, approx).

Coincidentially the case and the front fan both have blue leds, which I didnt know, when I bought it. I SWEAR.

No I have a badass looking black case, that pierces the smokey, dustey darkness in my room with the iciest of blue light. I am more than happy with the level of overclocking with stockparts due to the design.

I betcha, if you buy similar performance from alienware, they make you pay through your nose.

fake edit: To turn that case into somethign really individually badass, I'm considering getting a hello kitty sticker set or something like that.
