Puck, be nice.  There are plenty of reasonable explanations for how or why parents could name a kid Adolf Hitler without being cruel.  There are a surprising number of people in America who don't actually know what the holocaust is, and they aren't little kids.  It may be a strange concept , but there are actually a large number of people who can barely make C's in school, hence why C is the "average" grade (actually, I tell a lie.  It shouldn't seem a strange concept).  As you might imagine a significant portion of these might not even care about what the teacher is talking about in history class.  And if you don't know who Hitler is by the time you're out of high school, well, you probably won't ever know, because no one talks about it unless there is some intellectual discussion going on (which those people wouldn't be likely to be involved in).

It's not necessarily that these people are stupid, but often that they have been through hard times and everything that isn't directly related to their life seems unimportant to them.

I find it extremely hard to believe that they named their kids Adolf Hitler and Aryan Nation because they don't know what it was.

And hoping they grow up in an environment in which people are too uneducated to know what their names mean is just as delusional as assuming people will not treat them badly, that's my personal estimate.

It's even more of a stretch to assume that they will not be harrassed because of their names because people are all that loving and understanding and open minded.

Seriously. They will probably have a hard time in life just because of the stupid names, sooner or later, and those parents... ah damnit. Seriously, if you want to make a point about a friggin name, why use "Adolf Hitler" and not "Sweet Chocoloate Sugarbottoms" for instance.

Its also "just a name" but at least it will get people to snicker (no pun intended) while getting worked up over the crazy ass parents.

tl;dr: this is me being nice about neo nazis. (i changed that from "stupid neo nazis" because im just that nice!)

Yeah, it's possible the Adolf Hitler could have been random chance, but to have Adolf Hitler and Aryan Nation? Sorry, that's not coincidence, that's enemy action.

Honestly, the kid will live through so much abuse from his peers that the first thing he'll do after reaching 18 will be to go and change his name.

What if there was a guy named Adolf Hitler who cured aids?

Unlikely. If they won't give a kid named Adolf Hitler a cake, you think they'd let an adult named Adolf Hitler study medicine?

He will be aided by his army of Bob.

Sure in this particular case the parents probably are neo-nazis.  But can you imagine this: "Sure, we'll make a cake with lil' Adolf's name on it, as long as you fill out this information about your political affilliation." *fills in neo-nazi* "Oh, I'm sorry, we can't make an Adolf cake for a neo-nazi.  Store policy."

Sounds rather silly, doesn't it?

It was my understanding it was a grocer who denied the name, and Wal-Mart that actually DID it?

So yeah.

Generic grocer was the denier, Wal-Mart said "Fuck it, it's money."

Indeed. Because that didn't happen and won't happen.

Stop trying to make this about politics. It's about cakemakers who didn't make a cake because said cake was to have the name of a person who did great harm to a large amount of humanity on the cake.

Considerable amount yes.

Large amount of humanity?

It's only... 20 millions out of 5 billions? That's... not large enough, amirite?

Also, that man made rockets possible.

His horrors override his contributions. They were made as weapons of war, not the tools we use today. Congratulations go to Russian and American scientists who took those plans and made not-weapons out of them.
