So tempted to yell "Godwin's Law!"
I dont think Godwins law applies to discussions about nazis.

Anyway its not the kids fault his name is Hitler, he deserves cake just as much as any other child.

It's not a discussion about nazis. It's about a kid named Adolf Hitler Campbell not getting his name on a cake. But it turned into a discussion about nazis at page 2 :P

Anyway, Adolf H Campbell is actually a very nice name. If only a certain someone else didn't get that name first. Personally, I find it a little sad that everyone's getting all riled about Nazism. It's been almost three generations. Plenty of other mass genocides have been forgotten.. a lot of the cruelties in Asia during the wars have been forgotten. Move on.

This is actually quite sad. I hope that the government didn't decide to crack them down for being terrorists because of the whole incident.

Quote from: from the last link
The Campbells, in interviews, have said repeatedly that they’re not Nazi sympathizers or anything of the sort.

Oh good they're not nazis just attention whores. Not that the cake decorators don't make me rage, the parents just make me rage more. It's not right to discriminate against someone with a name like that, but honestly, how could it not be expected? He's one of the most recognizable and hated names in recent history, they must have had the media shitstorm in mind when they named him. Genghis Khan Smith and Dracula Henderson are pretty cool names, but naming a kid that is just borderline child abuse. In summary :
Neo-nazis : Bad
Attention whores : Bad
Denial of cake : Bad
Unwarranted media shitstorms : Bad
Silly names : Pretty Cool Bad

So your son is named Adolf Hitler? NO CAKE. NOT AT ALL. WE CAN'T ASSOCIATE WITH NAZIS.

Also, what kinseti said above me, but being named Dracula Henederson would be kickass.

Most of the time when someone is described as politically correct they are simply correct.

If the article Muz linked to is to be believed, they also named one of their dauthers "Joyce Lynn Aryan Nation Campbell". So they say they're not nazi sympathizers? Just a little bit into racial superiority.

On a swastika-related note, isn't it interesting how the symbol used by Italian Fascism(lictor's axe with rods) avoided similar stigma, despite e.g.Mussolini going "Ypres" on Ethiopia.

Ew. Do you realize how disgusting it is to have hair be an ingredient in cake mixes?

Lol, I'd grow a Chaplin-Hitler 'stache if I could and see how many people get offended.

Hmm.. does the USA not make birth registration mandatory? Because I don't really see how anyone could get named Adolph Hitler without attracting a lot of attention.

I don't watch The Office anymore, but there was a scene where Pam dressed as Charlie Chaplin for Halloween but had to take the hat off at work, making her Hitler.

A quick post regarding the swastika, discussed on page 2:
AFAIK the swastika is almost as old as mankind itself. AFAIK it's a symbol that depicts a spiral nebula, altough I dont know how they knew what a spiral nebula looks like. Maybe they were high on some really good ancient mushrooms, which took them on an OOBE through the universe, or light pollution wasnt exactly strong back then and you can see some of them with the naked eye, what the heck do I know.

But I'm pretty sure it's documented that the first drawings of swastikas are pretty darn old, from times we still lived in caves.

Something regarding the hitler/chaplin stache:
Try to shave a stache with a knife. (I almost exclusively shave with a shaving knife, its just the best way of shaving, trust me) When you try to remove the beard beneath your nose, you run in all kinds of problems. It's neither impossible nor that much of a problem if you'Re really careful, but I can DEFINETLY see how the moustache or the small hitler/chaplin moustache was so popular in times when knives were the most popular (or even the only) way of shaving.

Not a useful piece of knowledge, but I found it quite interesting when it occured to me one morning, while cutting my upper lip, how that particular beard probably evolved.

And last but not least:
I have no sympathy for parents naming their kid adolf hitler. No sympathy at all. "never forget" makes sense to me, but that is NOT a way to remember. Also, the little brat wont care whether or not there is his name on the fuckin cake. He is what? 3 years old? he cant even fooking read yet. Personally I wouldnt have sold them their cake with that name on it, either. Not because I despise seeing a cake with "Adolf Hitler" on it, not because I think it's wrong to make a cake like that (seriously, wtf, I have an adolf hitler mii who stands in the background, looking grim, when we wii-bowl... just for shits and giggles) but because I think the parents are proper dimwits, and I wouldnt want any customers that are able to be that cruel to their own child. Seriously, what WERE they thinking, when they named him? Were they even thinking? Do they EVER use their brains, in fact?

Those people truly HAVE to be idiots, and I pity the poor child, who will probably not like his parents very much once he gets into school. And if the things we know about generation conflicts are even remotely true, he will turn out an ultra left wing hippie, and quite frankly, his parents deserve that. I sure hope he will give them a LOT of worries, bringing home shopping bags of weed and snuggling around with non aryan girlfriends. (or better yet: jewish boyfriends!)

YOu go, little adolf, you drive them insane for me!

I would be fine when they would have just put Adolf as his name, but Hitler?
