Someone posted a screenshot of Flarechannels on Something Awful's current DF thread, and one of the responses to it was that it had "autistic levels of detail".

I'd take it as a supreme compliment coming from those guys.  ;D

Yeah, it's pretty bloody incredible. It's kind of like what I expect an autistic savant would make if they learned DF. Or maybe superman.

Just stumbled apon this thread today. Very amazing fort. I've always thought about trying to run a fort for an extremely long period of time, but due to various factors and my crappy computer, fps has been low, often times down to 1 and 2, and rage quits have occured. You have re-inspired me and if I produce a fort even one quarter as amazing as this, I will be impressed with myself. Very amazing fortress.

With the eagle on the roof, I have a suggestion as to why that happened, although I don't know if that's the reason. Sometimes when my dwarfs can't path to where they want to go they just stand there for a while. Then when the path is opened up, they still stand there for a while until hungry/thirsty. Maybe something similar to this happened, but eagles not having to eat, drink, or do tasks, made him stay there. I find the story of this eagle and Catten and his eagle pretty interesting. Although the story of Catten is strange and I'm beginning to think even more that Toady is, indeed, a wizard. Or at least a mage of some sort.  :D

Yikes, the Orcs have a nasty language.  Traditional foreplay would be right out for them; how would they ever "say my name" for one another?  No wonder Ocrs are always so bloodthirsty and violent, they're getting sub-par action.

I'm not familiar with this tileset. I was looking at the big pools of magma and water that form the one tower.  Spiraling down the middle there are a series of smaller pools of magma and water.  I was trying to understand how you did that.  I can tell the double barrel looking things are pumps, but what are the other 2 tile machinery connecting the pools?  They're red regardless of if they connect pools of water or magma.

Also.  At the top of those small pools, I understand that the magma won't rise out of the pool, but what about the water.  Shouldn't the pool of water at the very top overflow from water pressure?  What am I missing?

I think they're pumps in the process of pumping, like mid-'animation'.

And yes, I've yet to put my two cents in, but this is just absolutely stunning.

Yeah, those are also pumps, just the alternate sprite for them. They are all red because I made them out of Kaolinite.

is there any chance of this map going onto DFFD for the good of all?

Yeah, my progress is on and off so I'll try to get that up in the next few days, just in case something else catches my attention and I don't feel like coming back to Flarechannel. I'll update when I have some free time with my computer and get that done.

That honestly moved me close to tears, and has me questioning what it means form an emotional attachment to a game.

You Inspired me to build mega projects and I made an upside down pyramids 12 zs high but then I downloaded the zoo mod and I had to make a new world. Sadness.
