We could use them to fish for us. It would be perfect.

 And note the closest relative to otters we have somewhat domesticated is the ferret. A creature which is also adorable.

There is a certain amount of people that prefer a divide between animals and 'people', for some reason.

The reason is that we alter the environment around us to make it fit to our needs.  We are, biologically, animals, but we don't really act like most of them.  For that matter, we look least like other creatures at a glance.

And there is no species or sub species of human that looks quite as cute as most of these animals.

I would put up a picture of a finch, as those are adorable, but apparantly even with safe search on, sketchy pictures come up when I search that.  And this is the family computer, too . . .

We're not the only animals that alter our environment to make it fit our needs...  Heck, just start looking into it, you'll find that all the ones who can do it are doing it.  Look up the lemon ant for a drastic comparison.

And we do act like other animals, at a very basic level.  The reason it doesn't always look like that is just because we're better at it than most of them are.

For that matter, we look least like other creatures at a glance.

Strange comment...  There are a lot of creatures that don't look like other creatures.  How exactly are we special in this regard?
