Could X-Com series be considered RPGs with 'building' feature? When I played it, I role-played my squad members (required some imagination, just like how you played DF) and you get to build bases.

I never liked much of Heroes of might and magic, and I think it's turn-based (don't like that style :z)
Then I remembered the wrong title, the game I remember was FPS-RPG.
You were probably thinking of Might and Magic.

Yeah hahah, if it was a mix of adventure mode / fortress mode, it would be what I'm looking for I think.
I believe one of the ultimate aims is to integrate both modes.

Yeah, I suppose X-Com could be called that. You do get to see your troopers increase in stats and stuff. X-Com 3 might be the closest to that, since it can be played realtime.

Played XCOM 3 over DosBox and it was really nice, thanks for the suggestion!
I did not play much yet though, but I found cool being able to attack any building in the city etc, equipping your soldiers and vehicles is also nice.

The turn-based combat is REALLY, REALLY slow compared to the real time combat (of course..), and the real time mode lets you finish enemies quickly so you can keep attacking random criminal/cultist buildings at your leisure  8)
I even bought the 'tank' to make things meaner.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

the tank I find a major waste of money in all xcom or xcom derived games.
Just like androids in starflight, they dn't gain XP with the rest of your crew and they are much easier to hit, which is equivalent with 'kill' with the alien weaponry.

rocket tanks are more usefull...but those could be limited to the cenega games. :)

Yeah!
Its too slow to shot down UFOs, and if you attack a building (I retaliated a Psyke [criminal] attack on my base by wiping their buildings and vehicles) the tank (Grifon FLV or something) will blow the whole map trying to hit its target.
Got a lot of rep, but also lost some due to his lack of accuracy.
Government now ceased my funding because of the -3000 negative score ("damage to building")..

Old games lack tutorials..

Ground vehicles are useless in XCOM3, which is sad since the tank is so cool :(
Never buy the vehicles, focus on getting swarms of hoverbikes/cars.

Yeah I've learned that lesson..
Since I bought 2 more hovercars, the invasions are easily repelled.
It only tires me when loads of buildings get infected/infiltrated at the same time.. Even if my 12 member tactical team is pretty strong, I like more the research/economic etc part of the game.

And can you exterminate an organization or something?
The Cultistis are useless and they are hostile to me since I've blown up one of their temples 2 times, and I keep destroying their vehicles..
They only keep letting the aliens infiltrate and doesn't send any alerts..

Well, Ultima Online is an RPG and you can build houses/castles/ships there.
