For some reason, I still remember reading the first few posts when this thread first started and deciding (poorly) that this was just another idea that would not come to fruition and so each time this thread was revived, I ignored it. But I suddenly decided I would read through it. And it sounds great!

Only problem is the website is down, as DeM said.

It appears that the server my website was on is no longer available.  My site lived in my mom's website's basement.  :P   It wasn't meant for the real world.  I'll see what I can do about finding something else.

Thanks for the offer, but I've gotten it taken care of.  I apparently get free hosting with my domain...    The worst part is I lost my blog...  so sad :(    Anyway... site should be back up, however, I lost the last Fief update.  So I'll have to rewrite the new additions there soon.  In the meantime, hunting is nearly complete.  Just finalizing corpses and carcasses.

Yeah... I am already choosing my seeds :P

  I'll try to keep Fief as a major priority, although I will be working on my dissertation this semester while teaching a class (all during the gardening season).  But there has to be at least one night a week for programming in there.  Programming the skills should move very quickly since a template is already in place, it's mostly cut'n'pasting.  I do need some feedback, however:
    I've been thinking of 86-ing the Facing aspect of the game since as of now it plays no role.  What do you people think about that?  Is the level of realism gain from directional facing an important aspect that should remain (I did intend it to influence perception eventually as soon as lighting actually matters, and it was going to play a role in combat at some point).  As of now it only steals a step of time each time you need to change direction.  Please leave your comments.  :)

I can tell you that facing is in Unreal World and it's just annoying, serves no real purpose at all, and really puts me off the game sometimes. (Why can't I drag a log to a square behind me without looking in that direction?! I drag stuff backwards all the time in real life.)

I agree. Facing just ends up being a waste of turns. Gear Head 2, for example. In the time it takes you to turn to face an enemy behind you they can get about five turns off.
