How in the hell do I find a human town to embark on?
« on: October 19, 2009, 06:36:14 pm »

Trying to find a human settlement to grief, but can't find one for love nor money, because I don't know what to look for.

What symbol should I be looking for?

A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

#s and *s and the symbol for gems indicate human towns on the world map,

Tried those, but there's nothing there when I embark.

You're also embarking on the 3x3 town area that's marked on the map by #s, correct?

Semi-related

Human, dwarf and elf towns don't exist in evil biomes. Goblins can set some up but that's all.

I have found two human towns in evil biomes. The first one wasn't actually built ON the biome but it was very close to it, so when I embarked there was lush grass and haunted grass ... all that remained were ruins however.

The other town (i don't remember what icon it had on the world map) had been a goblin tower, but the human civilization had conquered it and built a town there.

There were shops and small huts and those appartment buildings and such .. and only 7 living humans. Most of them inside of the goblin tower... a herd of skeletal horses arrived and kicked down doors to the huts, rampaging around the map. They killed 3 of the 7 humans before being subdued....

So I guess that explains why there are no settlements in evil biomes by default huh? Note that I only found these by creating a VERY evil world with VERY many civilizations present.
