Ok, feeling better now, I'll get started on an update as soon as Diakron posts.
For now I'll just start with an explanation of the battle system:
Action
(4)* You attack the lion (4)** hitting its side (4)*** and bruising it.
This will determine what you attack i.e.
LionA=1
Lionb=2
Cougar=3
etc.
This roll determines whether or not your action is succesful.
0-=You hit yourself or a friendly
1=Miss with bad results
2=Miss
3=-2 to attack roll
4=Hit
5=Good hit
6=Overshot, you get in a good hit but trip or lose your weapon, etc.
7+=+2 to attack roll
This is the attack roll, this determines your damage
0-=Hit yourself
1=Miss
2=Light scuff
3=Tap on the shoulder
4=A moderate hit
5=A powerful blow
6=A powerful blow, but with consequences
7+=Deathblow
Sometimes, if the creature is strong enough, deathblows can be nullified.
Players have deathblows nullified, and will be knocked unconscious instead. Players can still be killed by ordinary means.
Some common wounds are:
Bruised=Mostly flavor, bruised organs cannot and will never be healed
Unconcious=Out for the battle, will be revived automatically afterwards
Name= Completely dead
Infected=Can lead to loss of limbs and eventually death if untreated
Diseased=Leads to roll demodifiers and can lead to death, depending on how serious it is
Poisoned=Same as disease, just faster
Broken=Roll demodifier
Shattered=Like broken, just worse
Missing=A limb is missing, you can never use it
*Element*= (burning, shocked) Roll demodifier. May lead to death.
Probably more=But I can't think of them right now
Some "wounds" can be beneficial, rage for example.
Gladitorial matches end when one side is defeated or has succesfully surrendered. Afterwards, you get to go into town for one turn and shop/heal/learn spells/pick up tavern wenches.
Matches may vary as to their goals and player amounts (i.e. 1v1, 2v2, 1v3, player v player, players v lions, etc.).
That's about it, I think.
