How in the world could I forget Mad Jack the Pirate. Especially the singing sword!

Now I am picturing the next Dwarf Fortress meetup at a playground. Silliness abounds. So does some serious creepiness.

I know a great place if we ever have a meetup in Dallas.  It's like a damn Ninja Warrior course.

So I have a challenge for anybody: Find a cartoon or anime or anything aimed at children yet keeping up the good work from when we were children.

I don't know what counts as "good work", but I'll throw The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy out there again (although I think it ended).  Depressingly cynical and grossly hilarious.  I remember one episode I was watching with my father (who turned out to be a fan) where people were turning into ratdaddies - a reference you could only get if you lived in the 1960s or are into Rob Zombie album art.

Although it started off as bubblegum crap, and really still is, that Clone Wars show deserves mention.  I have to give credit to a cartoon that airs in a Saturday morning timeslot that has the stones to show people being killed on camera and plays for keeps.  Always bloodless of course, but cold-blooded nonetheless.

Billy and Mandy was great, and I'm glad they dropped that lame show that always aired with it.  Flapjack is also great, and is a goldmine for reaction images, but can be a little disturbing.  The episode with the plague, in particular, has some characters that border on repulsive.

You mean evil con carne?
I liked that. I don't know about english version, but polish dubbing blew my head off with those jokes.

I really think Billy & Mandy jumped the shark right around when that first movie came out.

Although now that I think about it, they might have literally jumped sharks at some point.  My previous statement is a figure of speech, just to be clear.

My little cousin is visiting, and we went to the park today.

Turns out she didn't want to go on the slide, but wanted me to go on the slide.  It was difficult to get my 6 foot frame around a childrens piece of play equipment, also helping her around, but damn if it didn't bring back memories...
I know what you mean.
I went on one of the springy things. They're made for people about a quarter of my weight. This meant I was rolling around in an amusing fashion.
You guys both know drunk teenagers piss on those things, don't you?

Yeah, if I were drunk, I'd climb to the top of a set of monkey bars and piss on the slide.  Because I wouldn't run the risk of, like, falling off.

Right, you see some people do it and it automatically means that there are teenagers everywhere that piss on playgrounds when drunk.

Idiots copy idiots everywhere in the world, if they tinker it up here, they'll tinker it up elsewhere.

It's a little more complicated than that.  Things need hype.  "Gangstahs" are popular because of some of the more prominent rappers giving it hype.  People don't do stuff just because some one else did it; they do it because it's either "traditional" or some one cool does it.

Ah, I loved Billy and Mandy. 'Twas one of the few shows that I actually cared about.

Speaking of gangstah, remember the Hip-hop episode?  I loved that one.
