Wow. Just wow.

What I liked about Digimon over Pokemon was that the transformations (Digivolve?) were temporary. It's like, "Aww, look at the cute little... OHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT"

Ironically that's what I didn't like about digimon

Digimon focus more on the digiworld while pokemon have a nice touch of working hard to breed your pokemon, rise them and evolve them, and sometimes trade.
Also digimon talk mostly while having no suitable mouth for such. Pokemon are just animals.
And there has been some notice in the series that pokemon die. I don't know for sure what pokemon and humans eat, and I bet that meat has to come from somewhere.

Well, in Digimon I can remember quite a few characters dying, which I have not seen happen in Pokemon.
Granted, I stopped watching halfway through the second season of Pokemon, so what do I know.

Everyone always thinks that.  I grew up with greats like Rocko's Modern Life, the Goddamn Batman, and the original Ninja Turtles.  When you guys started talking about Digimon et al, I remembered how (at the age of 14) I thought that was the downfall of animation, and pined for the entertainment of my gold youth.  In summation, get off my lawn.

Funnily enough, now that it's been almost twenty years or more since most of those shows aired, you can see their influence cropping up in new shows as people who watched them join the industry.  You can't watch cartoons like Bill and Mandy or especially that Flapjack thing and not tell me Ren and Stimpy were peeing in the creative gene pool.

Everyone always thinks that. 

Except, a year ago I liked a lot of the shows that Cartoon Network was showing.  Foster's Home, Grim Adventures, Teen Titans.  The first two slowly went sour and stupid.  The latter ended with the Teen Titans joining forces with just about every ally they had accumulated in an awesome battle with the Brain.  There was supposed to be a new show to pick up from there, similar to the Justice League -> Justice League: Unlimited transition, but I never saw it.  Same thing happened with Static Shock.  Static was awesome, and to this day remains my favorite cartoon super hero.

That's how I feel about Kids Next Door, although there are probably plenty of other people who remember it but are indifferent due to never having watched it.  I hated it.

This thread is just causing me nostalgia overload. I've always watched way too many cartoons...

I loved the Mario Bros Super Show. But the Zelda cartoon will always hold a more special place in my heart, as perhaps the first time I recognized something as So Bad It's Good.
