I'm probably the only forum member that grew up on anime.

Oh shit, I forgot - The original Dragon Ball! I loved that show, back when I was a wee lad. Wouldn't say I "grew up on anime" though.

My brother recorded this on VHS tapes when he was younger.

Oh, quick grammer warning: The plural of Lego is not Legos. Like the plural of sheep is not sheeps. Its just Lego. Lego's sound so dumb it actually hurts the child center of my brain.

Edit: THE FUCKING MOOMINS!

I understand your pain. I was sad when I heard people say "peoples"
singular : person plural: people

or something like that

I'm Asian. Spent some of my childhood in Asia.  :P

Now I'm so bemused at this everything-asian craze around the States.
Wow, I always thought you were a Korean-American that lived on the West Coast of the US. Didn't know you were in Asia at some point of your life. Nice to know I'm not the only one, although I have to say that the Arabic people who dubbed Anime are pretty bad in retrospect. I understand that they wanted to be all traditional Arabic without regional accents, but it comes off as saying stuff like "I doth say that thy ability is quite impressive dear sirs." One of the reasons I suck at spoken Arabic.

There'll be some pretty huge variations in dialects over the entire Arabic world, I guess.  Although I'm fairly sure I sound like the quote chaoticag gave to some people.

I honestly don't know what is stoping North-Western Africa from calling their dialect a dialect. I have no idea what they say, and communicating with them can be a pain. Lebanon is pretty unique too, what with them replacing about half the words with other words, but they are understandable to a degree, untill you find those that believe that the Lebenese Arabic is the one true Arabic.

Never spoke Arabic as a kid though, I was the fifth kid in the family, and my mother just about had it raising kids and hired a full-time baby sitter instead, who could only talk to me in English. She used to work for an American family, so even though she was Indian, she spoke her English well. Although I still have that habit of saying "open the lights" instead of "turn the lights on". I'm pretty sure I'm over that.

My Slovakian friend used to do that for years, until I corrected him enough times to make him stop.
I also got tired of "pass the clicker".

What is wrong with pass the clicker?

Yeah...  Except that it's actually a correct usage.  "Peoples" is the plural of "people".

So, the Welsh people, the Basque people, and the Fijian people all walk into a bar, and the bartender says "Well, if that isn't a rather unusual collection of peoples.  We tend to get the indigenous African peoples on Friday night".

But yes, it does take a little getting used to.  I remember doing a double take the first time I heard it.

I actually used to watch Pokemon AND Digimon, though I mainly watched Digimon because I had a crush on the brunette girl in the pink cowboy hat.
Mimi ^^

I wish I could find this series in my language again. Lately I found them in english, but as always, english sucked.

I really loved digimon, like really really loved it.

Hated Dragonball Z, there were only a few cool things there, the part where the ugly guy let the bald guy fly in the air and go boom, after which the goku guy had about 10 minutes to transform and 8 episodes to kill the ugly guy.
And the part where the ugly guy came back and got sliced in 15 seconds, best anti-climax EVER.

Whaaaahhh Digimon, only ever saw series 1 and parts of 2. I always liked Kari as she was in S2.
EDIT: Gatomon so badly rocks!

EDIT2: Gundam Wing, bloody brilliant :D

Yes, there's a correct usage when you talk about multiple different races, and when your referring to each race as "people".  I think he may have been referring to an incorrect usage of it though ("Yo peoples!  What's up?").

Personally, I'd find a few other things to complain about with such an individual...  But specific example aside, I understand your point.  And yes, that would be annoying.

Gatomon so badly rocks!

Gabumon was the best, cheeyah.
And all his evolutions were badass.

As a kid I always found Digimon better and more mature than Pokemon, and with much cooler monsters.
Plus a much better storyline.

If anything Digimon was better because it had cuter girls. :3

What I liked about Digimon over Pokemon was that the transformations (Digivolve?) were temporary. It's like, "Aww, look at the cute little... OHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT"

Ironically that's what I didn't like about digimon
