It would be extremely useful and time saving if you could bookmark views like you can in a lot of strategy games.  Something simple like press Ctrl+number will save the camera position, then pressing that number alone will jump the camera to the stored position.

There is. Press h to look at the hotkeys. F1 is automatically assigned to the gate, too.

Ah, thank you, I must have missed that in the wiki.

edit:  I would like to change my request - I would like the existing hotkeys to work while in modes such as building inspector (q) or examine (k).
