It was actually an accident.  Zon was meant to reset the lever, but I mistakenly left the door Forbidden so she walked away and found another job instead.  When I unlocked the door, well, you know who was the first to volunteer.

Really? That's an amazing coincidence, then - when I read your latest update, I figured you had explicitly ordered the Philosopher to reset the lever.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

I didn't think you could specify who pulls the lever, it just grabs whoever's closest.  Have I been missing something all along?

you can specify who is allowed to pull a lever in the same manner you can specify who is allowed to use a particular workshop.

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

Yup. Set Profiles for a lever and it'll only be pulled by that particular dorf.

So we have two consorts, now we wait for three years for the next.

This could take a while.

It doesn't take three years per consort.  The reason I wasn't getting them was because the goblins were preventing the dwarven caravan in Autumn.  This year, I disabled sieges only for Autumn to ensure the caravan came, and the following spring I got the consort.

So, as long as I continue to do this, I should be able to get another consort every year.

I wouldn't neglect the cooldown you had for the "omg a noble died its just like 50 dwarves were killed!"

Hopefully people won't still think your home is a deathtrap by next Spring.

The noble death thing is annoying. That's why I prefer crippling them.

Well, yeah. Clearly. Plus crippling can easily lead to accidental deaths anyway, so meh.

Noble death doesn't prevent another noble from appearing, or the migrant wave it comes with.  It only prevents regular migrants from coming.
