Nanomolecular healing gel

One step closer towards immortality! Not really, but this is definitely useful. Maybe in 10 years, band aids would be a thing of the past and kids would be more wimpy and pathetic than ever!

Also, the comments on that article are retarded.

One step closer to a future that will probably be, if not better then the present, at least really interesting.

One day, we shall all look back on this, and laugh. Sorry about the face, by the way, and the legs, and the eyes, and the arms. In fact, sorry 'bout the whole body.

Yeah, Those articles really are stupid. I find that the general internet rugrat needs to be sarcastic or die.

On another note: Wow. So all of this is done by amino-peptides? How did they manufacture those? It seems like a decent Idea.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

You know, I REALLY could have used that when I stepped on the food processor blade.
Do you know how much bandages, paper towel, and tissues I used?

Why is everything there only when I don't need it?

Or we'll have the bioshock med-packs which are filled with healing agents and genetic tissue replacements. All contained in various amounts of friendly syringes!

Just pump our blood full of nanorobots that charge around like lunatics fixing all the broken cells.

Or destroying them completely.  ;D

Theres an interesting theory going around atm; that the first 1000 year old person has already been born. It goes like this: because medical science and life expectancy is advancing at such a rate we'll effectively hit age escape velocity. Meaning that science is going to advance so fast that getting old will never happen. This is through a use of nanobots/drugs to regerate our damaged chromosomes and cells and restore us to a younger age on a molecular and biological level. I love nanotech.

It's possible, but it's more likely that it will actually be the next generation, not this one, that hits the escape velocity.

Depends of course.

antioxidants won't stop the natural aging process. I think its in our genes aswell. Theres a chromosome that progressively gets shorter as we age. I think thas effectively our egg timer on life.

If I remember correctly, anti-oxidants, when taken in excess, may raise your risk of lung cancer. My citation is the Bad Science book by that Goldacre dude. It is probably on his website too.

Worse than that; our cells start 'self destructing' so to speak during middle age.

There's a whole lotta 'failsafes' to stop people living forever. Our genes were pretty thorough about that.

Also, chaoticag, pretty much anything can increase your risk of cancer of some kind. Cancer is like that.

There was a significant raise in risk. Something like 70 or 80% in one experiment, which was cancelled on humane grounds. Granted, the number could mean anything, but still seems pretty significant to me.
