Your fortress has attracted no immigrants this last 24 seasons

I'm currently playing a fort on a map with 3 terrifying biomes.
At first, it took 3 years for the first migrants to show up, even though I had no deaths, and produced quite some wealth.

I got a magnificent total of 5 dwarves to join my fortress. This was the first, and last migrant wave I've seen.

The next 2 years, I lost my legendary armorer, and my legendary weaponsmith due to goblin ambushes.
I used Dwarf companion to resurrect them (including the 'turn into Bronze Colossus trick to get rid of fatal injury / bleeding).

The 2 years after that, I lost 2 babies due to them being used as shields. (I did not ressurect those)
That is 6 years ago now. I have not lost any more dwarves after that. My happily breeding couple brought my population to 17 dwarves already.
However, those past 6 years, I get the 'your fortress has attracted no immigrants this season' message every season.

I wonder why. My idea's:

- It's normal. One of the deaths I had was my expedition leader, which could cause the long abscence of migrants, even if he's not officially a noble.
However, I would think that would give the '..too dangerous..' or '..migrants are too afraid..' message, and not the standard 'has attracted no migrants'. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

- It's normal. My map consists of 3x terrifying biomes, the home civ is not too big, and rather far away. As demonstrated by the first wave, migrants are scarce to begin with. However, I've made CRAPLOADS of goods, fortress wealth is at 4 mil. Exports exceed imports by a fair margin as well.

- Resurrecting dwarves with Dwarf companion breaks immigration..? I remember that Heavy Flak has a problem with no immigrants showing up in Migrursut. He has also used DC to revive dwarves.
This is just a theory, though. (And a long shot at that)

Anyone has any insights as to which (combination) of those ideas is right? Or any other ideas?

Your fortress is not making enough wealth to attract migrants, mass produce mugs!

Well, I was going to suggest making sure you haven't set a low population cap in your init file. However, if you only have 17 dwarves in total, I doubt it's going to be that.

As an aside, how do you use the companion to resurrect dwarves?

@RebelZhouYuWu: I have a GCS farm, mass producing dyed GCS silk crafts, sewing silk images. Apart from that, I have modded in a reaction to make adamantine bars from 2 steel, 1 iron, 1 pig iron, 1 coal and flux. I have masterwork adamantine armor, masterwork adamantine crafts, instruments etc. Also making bone and stone crafts in modest-but-not-too small amounts.
Goblin crap is sewn with either leather or GCS silk images.
I really doubt that I do not have enough wealth.

@Betamax: actually, my pop_cap is at 80.

You've also exported lots of wealth to the caravan, I'm guessing? And the caravan has safely made it off the map each year, correct?

I'd guess that it's because your civ isn't doing too well.  IIRC, and I may be wrong on this, it *is* possible for your civ to do poorly enough that you don't get immigrants.  Reference "Last Dwarves in the World" that didn't receive immigrants at all because the civ effectively gets wiped out.

If you make a backup, abandon, and go into Legends, how is your civ doing?

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

I did get 1 immigrant wave in year 3, so I guess that is not the case. I indeed said the civ was not too big.. Still, 4 omega signs marked it's territory on embark screen though, so not that small.

Hehe.. I have just captured my 2nd GCS. Time to make a webbed siege corridor. There are 3 GCS on my map. I have also modded them to live up to 210 years.  ;D

Oh. And yes. I do export quite a lot, and offer quite a lot as well. The dwarven caravan has lost 1 packmule somewhere in the 1st year, but no more afterwards. The Liaison is also still alive and well.

EDIT: upon checking the legends, I seem to have been mistaken about the civ. It has only 1 settlement. Legends mode does not say much, only that the last leader was appointed roughly 80 years before I founded my fortress, and the last outpost liaison 50 years before founding.
So quite possibly, you're right, and my civ is doing too poorly to send more than the 5 immigrants I got.. :P

Still got hope. My first child just turned adult (made dwarves grow up at age 6)

How do you make a GCS farm? Isn't the GCS going to attack/scare away any dwarf that goes to collect the webs?

Key statements:

- A GCS will fire webs through fortifications
- A GCS will succesfully path through a door that is open, but NOT pet passable, even though it cannot get through
- A GCS needs to be able to path to a target to shoot webs at it
- A GCS will shoot webs at targets within a 4 tile radius
- A Raised bridge will act like a normal wall, blocking sight
