Just OH GOD don't use hatchets. They have like half the damage of the other weapons. Save them for the trees.

Today Screamtortures is one citizen less. The most important citizen of all, perhaps.

This half-year went smoothly. Here are my successes in the last 6 months.

Expansion
When I arrived, Screamtortures looked like a provincial outhouse. Now it looks like a fully modernised fortress. The fortress has grown significantly in size. And size, is really, all that matters.

Modernisation
The fortress and its many industries have been modernised, not as much as I would wish, but sufficiently so.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The fortress lay-out has also been reworked. Whereas before if you wanted to go somewhere you had one path and you could take that one path or not go at all. This mean congestion. By adding more paths and shortcuts cats get to where they want to go faster.

The new bridge system epitomises this development.

Shopping and Currency
In spring Screamtortures adopted a currency. We are using book-keeping and individual/family accounts to keep track of it, coins being too much of a hassle for us lazy and individualistic cats to make.
We call it Pain.
This name was chosen because thats what cats give to earn it and what we give to those who try to cheat our book-keeping, also because we in charge like to keep both varieties of it in ample supply in the fortress.
Also, many shops have been set up where cats can exchange Pain earned through labour for useless shit.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Dragon-in-a-box
I locked up a Dragon In A Box outside our fortress entrance, he should rain fire on our enemies whilst impressing our allies with his regal stature as he hunches his massive bulk in our cat-sized caging station. He is surrounded by fortifications however to prevent the arrows from hurting him, I'm not a cruel man, after all.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I also left a three-part instruction set on how to operate the dragon-inna-box for the extremely stupid. Yes, I'm talking about you.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
On a more miscellaneous note, I added a second mist generator above the large statue garden.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Also, I ordered the clear-cutting of the forest, which I had otherwise not touched during my reign. I had used almost all the available logs, with roughly 20 remaining.

Events
Nothing much happened this half-year that hasn't already been noted upon, except that the our new dumbshit cripple mayor was taken by a fey mood. If it were up to me I'd let the asshole go crazy, but it isn't up to me, as he decided to be taken by inspiration a few days before my departure.

I know where I'm going now.

Oh well, back to waiting.
In mean time, I noticed we only have enough players to get us to year 10 of the fortress (I did year 5).
We should probably seek more players for this fort, and can those that already played be added back to the end of the queue? (Those that had to skip their turn should probably do this :P )

So close was I. Close to what? Getting some poor sap to go to a nice weekend for me. I can't really go until a Friday, as I'm busy every weekday ever. If someone can go in a span of two days, they can certainly go before me. If not... Well, I don't want to hold up the fort again, so LABRECK'S UP!

Great, I can kill them now, I was wanting some DF to night, that will do I think ^^

PS:

This is a diary from Labreck, relating his journey to Screamtortures
First Limestone
What that scrap?! A Barony mean a Baron. Mean stupid peasant thinking they are rich. Armok, what I have done?  Anyways, finish about it, this place deserve to die, my reputation is at stack here. Bon, so stock are fine I think, we have many animal to slaughter, in a pit, with, wait a minute, a bridge before the pit? Ahem, the lever is near hopefully.

The well in the main dining room are, dry at least. Forge are ok, we will need more amour. We have many godfucking soldier to armour. No one know about dagger or how to use it, but the know well how to scratch you with their claw. I think they need to get back-up on the surface. The dwarf could rest at bay, but first we need some military, I'll go check how they do.

In summary, I have explore the place, a mess, we need water, we need probably more room and the military will probably be due to a change to something like dagger. I'll star constructing a village, not habiting it now, the defensives system is good and I hope to see it in action ^^

Use notes (pressing N (has to be capital)) to find out what levers do. I marked all my levers (I built about 2) and I think all prior levers were also marked.
Also:

Evokes the image of an interrogation. What do you know about Dagger, huh!? *slams soldier's head against wall*
Tell me god-fucking blasphemer!

Thing will be long, my FPS is overing around 10 and I'll only get my new pc after Christmas. I'll just say, if someone is sure to finish before the new year, he could have a go with the save. If no one grab it, I'll finish somewhere between 25 and the 1 January. I don't have 20 hours to spend on this ^^

For the lever, I have already check it :) I'm not a fool, my main project for the moment, except teaching to this moron how to use dagger is bringing water to the main hall. That will be also useful to get unlimited water source for flooding chamber. I say that the baroness will die of a tragic accident :)

Uh... Can I go? I can go on the weekend, my computer can handle 80 dwarves on a beach and keep the fps at around 20-30 still.

You folks could turn off temperature and weather to boost your FPS a ton. If we're not on an extreme temperature map or planning on using any crazy magma traps soon, then it shouldn't make much of a difference. Magma smelters and so such will still run fine.
