War is hell. Even the kittens know that, as the youngest in all the domain of The Wrack of Whirling are taught from the earliest age of their duty - nay, their divine right! - to splode across the Eternal Universe, indelibly leaving their mark from shore to shore. And, of course, they are taught of those who oppose this divine will of Myal and Liaksta Rrsoawa Xstaaffta, great god and goddess of fertility and children. And so the kittens are taught to love this hell, to pursue the valor and war of Lkoeow Mrwaolkoe - and many, to forget that she is also the dead goddess of death and suicide. Thus there is war in the Land of Rhyme. The Scalded War, against the dwarves of The Humble Paints. The Scalded War, nearly 175 years old, which nobody can even remember the origin or cause of. The Scalded War, claiming over thirty-three thousand brave feline lives, yet not a single dwarven outpost has fallen.

Life is hard for those few cats who wish to stay alive. And so, we seven have set off for The Spike of Fathers, in the farthest corner of our domain. Far away from meddling dwarves, yet we don't expect that to stop them - what would they see this as except a transparent attempt by the Wrack of Whirling to exploit the riches of the mountains to use in our next attack?

We don't expect to have an easy time of it. We don't want an easy time. We will tear survival from these jagged cliffs by tooth and claw. We are The Whiskered Tornado! Here at this place Screamtortures we are here to stay, or we will kill with our dying breaths!

Well! It's time. Sign up for Fun, death, and dwarf siege TPK. You will need the 1.03 version of Cat Splosion (DFFD link here) in otherwise unmodded .40d to play.
Rules:

1 ) The cat caravan comes in Winter, not Autumn. As such, migrants will not arrive until the Spring instead of Autumn. Thus, turns will switch when Autumn arrives, rather than the traditional Spring. So I'll be taking the first turn, from Spring 229 through Summer 230, next will be Autumn 230 through Summer 231, etc. Don't forget.

2 ) Read up on the mod!! There is no excuse for buying a couple hundred Whip vine seeds and wondering why you can't plant them.
2a ) Cats are small. You will need to terribly outnumber your foes. DON'T forget this. Even goblins can kick your ass. Even troglodytes and naked mole dogs will destroy you if you're not careful and well-equipped.
2b ) There is also no excuse for designing a complicated defense relying on siege weapons. There ARE no cat siege weapons as of 1.03.
2c ) Remember that cats can ONLY eat meat, fish, and meals with meat or fish in them. Trapped vermin do count.
2d ) Also, cats only live 10 to 20 years, so don't be surprised if legendary cats start dying of old age on you!

3 ) Keep the save playable. I'd prefer if we didn't have to reclaim if it's at all avoidable.

4 ) Oh god, please don't breach the HFS pits unless you're REALLY REALLY REALLY READY. OH GOD NO! Unless you wall it right the heck back up.

5 ) Pictures of important events is recommended but not required.

6 ) No cheating, including Reveal (unless officially sanctioned by me). I've already scouted with reveal, and will tell you that there is plenty of iron, and even tin and loads of copper if we have so many military cats we need to make bronze (which may just happen!). Mild savescumming is OK, but don't overdo it.

7 ) Have fun!

Yes! Magma pipe (currently hidden), UG river, HFS, brook, flux, iron, wood, and five chasm tiles.
Should I put you down for year 2, or do you have a later preference?

I just realized, after adding the new body parts to the other races, that I have an entire squad of dwarves with a shield in each hand and swinging their axes with their penises. There's nightmare fuel for those goblins, in more ways than one.

Dang, that's a turnout!
Well, I'll just have to get cracking. I would've played more yesterday, but things came up. A girl was involved.

We've arrived. We'll stop the wagon here.
A faint sulfurous, rotten odor wafts up from the chasm venting nearby. Shifty and bizarre forms are faintly visible acoss the landscape, and infeline noises echo up from below.
It's a dangerous spot, but everywhere in these hills is dangerous, and there's a group of troglodytes and a large rat wandering the mountain ahead of us. Here, we stop, and take shelter from the beasts.
First things first: We'll need to separate ourselves from the menace. Then, we head underground across the chasm. From there, it's a short hike to the wooded marsh to the North.
(Assume any subsequent spoilers are hiding pics.)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Now we just need to dig out a home. Food stockpiles take first priority so we can carry the stuff underground now, rather than later.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Then, some sleeping space and workshop areas, an 11x11 dining room later and we're set for now.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Summer has arrived. Now we turn to other projects, namely, digging channels for our future wells. And, I swear the ground to the southwest looks a bit... warmer. Less snowy. If we can find magma there, we may even be able to get some industry going!

So yeah, not a lot happened this spring, but at least I got everything mostly dug out. Even got some crafting set up already. Also, we have two pairs of lovers: the miner/trader (which I renamed to Leader for length) with the collector, and the crafter with the foodmaster. Can't wait for sploding!

Summer update!

We've got some crafting industry in full swing. This place is pretty homey already.
Slaughtered one of the male cats and the camel and cooked all our meat into meals. The fish, however, will be left uncooked for their bones and shells.
We put up a bridge in front of the main entrance; when we get attacked we can either pull it up to lock them out or bring it down on their heads. Of course, we'll have to build a lot of walls before it will work. We'll have to put some traps up too so we can perhaps salvage some valuable metal from our foes.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And on a happy note, we've found the magma! Went to the southeast and dug straight down, and broke through right above it.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We'll have to scramble to get our defenses ready, though. Don't know when the dwarves will find us!

Bahaha! I'll just note that I did a little exploring into the limestone... one shaft going down a few z-levels.
I immediately found both bauxite and magnetite.

Um...I don't think your entryway is not wagon-accessible. The wagons need at least 3 consecutive tiles  on one level before they can go up/down a ramp, and you only have 1. Nothing a few constructions can't fix, but you really don't want to miss the first caravan's wagons.
