To address the OP for a minute, like forums are supposed to (???)

It's because you're trying to pick up a tree.
Notice how it says Ignite on the list?  Yeah, don't choose that if you don't want stuff to burn.

Ah jaybud, of course he wants things to burn.

That said, since there is currently no way to uproot a tree with tools, and there's no way you're managing it on your lonesome, you cannot pick them up.

And presumably your character abhors bushes,because you can't pick them up either.
