I got chased by my neighbors dog while getting the mail. That dog chased a lot of people on the cul de sac I live in. For gods sake if that dog bites me...

Not sad today, but I might as well rant about it here:

I live roughly 100m away from the forest. At the moment I am alone at home with my two dogs, reading comfortably by the fire in the livingroom. The problem, of course, is that to fuel the fire I need to go outside to fetch firewood, the garden is pitch black, and it's a moonless light with creepy mist outside and I am in a jumpy mood. Should not have been reading those Lovecraft tales after dinner, given the circumstances.

You never read Lovecraft after dark. You just don't. It's not something you do if you want to retain your sanity and the contents of your various waste-containment organs. Sorry to put it so bluntly but frankly that is the truth.

He's basically the greatest horror writer that ever lived, or not, depending on who you ask, but it's remarkable how much fright he can still invoke, considering the age of his work.
