He's done plenty of shit illegally (and been convicted or indicted for some of it) and no one's bothered to stop him. Why would anyone stop him from doing more illegal shit? Just has to call it an "official act" and he gets away scot-free.

In this case there's not enough support for it nationwide, so it would genuinely cause riots and damage the administration's power, that's all.
It's conceivable that something like that might happen toward the end of the administration after some consolidation, but there are much more pressing things to worry about.

Indeed, consolidation is the first thing Trump is going to focus on I think. You can’t do much with the current state of things. After he secures his position I think Trump’s will go after the media first.

Why are people so... dumb? Why choose Trump?

Really. Why? Does he have any sort of competency anywhere, except marketing himself and going bankrupt?

I know the feeling. I mean I experienced it. At least Erdoğan is a semi-competent leader overral... He is shitty, don't get me wrong... But he can somewhat run shit. Trump straight up can't.

Why does the world work this way? It makes no sense.
Though luck, people paying attention to him for the meme, and his own coldhearted willingness to play along, the cult of personality became large enough to be self-sustaining. Now people have complete faith in his competence, not because of any evidence, but because that faith is a core part of their identity now.

Offer rejected flat out. No real reason given/reservations specified. His alternative: not great. Work lined up: none. Good luck kid. $550/month rent with room mate in not nice place. Plus utilities. Health insurance: Not affordable. Security/weapon handing training/range time: none. Actual good relationship with local area: none. Practical infrastructure in life: none. Education/training/networking invaluable and absent for you. Plan? Doesn't have / "need" one.

Assuming it doesn't all hit the fan (costing more if it does), several thousand per year he'd rather spend than save. Come on kid; if you save $10K + / year on rent, etc., (more with health ins included easily) that's a car and/or fixer up house of your own. Nobody offered me that or anything close to that.

O well, I tried. Here kid, here's the things I wish people did for me.... This will help you a lot. My error is unclear; perhaps nonexistent.

He's still a young one lacking the nescessary frontal lobe development for long term insights, and appreciation of offers such as yours.
At his age I might also have opted for living the teenage years with a friend, be it in a dorm or a squat, without much worry beyond paying the rent and having spare change for food and a few beers in the weekend.

I think the most you can do is say 'good luck lad, the offer stands for a while if you are to reconsider'.
If he finds out he can't support himself, so be it. Falling down and getting back up is part of learning life.
Let's just hope he stays away from addictions or illegal activities.

Who knows he might just do fine.

Gran's hospital trip is turning out to be more final than we anticipated.

She pulled out her cannula and got an infection, and that's knocked her down even further, and before that she was barely waking up except in severe pain and fear from being moved around. She's not eating or drinking and we didn't want to put her on a feeding tube, her oxygen tube is already aggravating her in the brief moments she's awake.

All active medical care is stopping tomorrow, after my aunts and uncles abroad have had a chance to come see her. I've been expecting her to die soon for a while now, but this is still very sudden. We were expecting her to recover partially and go to a care or nursing home for a while at least.

I've lived with a lot of people with similar history. And to be honest I'm not surprised. It's not even about whether the deal is fair or not. You don't leave prison, just to go straight back into a situation where someone is laying down rules on how to live your life.

Not being critical, just, I've lived with more people with that background than I would have otherwise liked to.

Condolences, grim. It's rough, and it'll probably be a long damn while before it gets better.

@true, hell, you tried. Probably didn't do anything wrong, some folks just won't take help when it's offered.

You ain't the only one that wishes you had that, though. I've had shelter and food but the rest of it is... well, I'm pretty fucked, these days, ha.

I can attest to this, I would not have a roof above my head if wasn't for family. Rent's, for my wage is a literal imposibility.

Also feel like I was tired and half read the post before I responded. Here's hoping your Gran is looking upon a life well lived when she passes

Anti-Israel protestors attacked and injured football fans of Macabi Tel Aviv, who were playing a match in Amsterdam against Ajax.
57 people have been arrested.

Netanyahu responded to the incident by ordering the army to send two airplanes to the Netherlands with a medical team, and a rescue operation.

Not sure what those are for, only light injuries have been reported and the fans are all brought to the safety of their hotels by dutch police. Unless there's hostages taken that are not known to our newspapers yet, it sounds like a bit of an overreaction.

I do hope though that the 57 people arrested will not be charged with football violence and get fined (it wasn't football fans trying to attack the Israelis). I hope they are charged with terrorist attack and put away in prison for the coming 10 years.

EDIT: our news now reports that 3 Israeli are still missing since last night.

That edit makes it sound like ether they got lost in the chaos or there are hostages.

3 Israelis are still missing. I hope they are not hostages because, remember the Olympics Munich. Israeli special ops don't really care about colllateral damage if there are hostages to be freed.

Disgustingly, about 50 out of 60 arrested terrorists have already been set free.
They beat up the jews for being jewish, they beat their teeth out of their mouth. They stabbed them with knives, they threw them into canals. These deranged terrorist fucks need to be put in anti-terrorist containment camps, instead of getting a slap on the wrist and a fine for football violence (this was not football violence this was antisemitic terroism).

Ah that sucks, there's no words to be said that'll make it all better or put it in perspective unfortunately, just take your time to grieve as you need, whatever form that takes.
