They did cause £10k of damage… to the frame, purchased in 1999.

There are different categories of prison in the UK though. I’d imagine they get held in open conditions given the non-violent nature of the crime, but yeah, 2 years is a bit silly for “it could have damaged the painting” when it clearly didn’t.

In other sad, holy shit. Dutch police has been SEVERELY compromised. Hackers got a hold of all the full names and functions of all police officers in the Netherlands. All undercover operations will need to be cancelled right away, and all undercover officers and their families and friends, and families of friends and friends of family placed in protective custody.

Ugh. Say what you will about being drunk, it does give me the disinhibition to start thinking about things. And tonight there's a double whammy.

One, my hair isn't coming back. I have to get a wig. Known that on an intellectual level, on an emotional level I was still holding out.

Two, I'm fucking lonely. Never been in a relationship, and being trans seriously reduces the odds of being in one, and I'm a picky fuck myself so that's reducing the odds even more. Friends? Fine on that front. Ish. But actual romantic relationship? Nah, not so fine there.

That's a strange leap of logic. Just shave it and start listening to angry bald people music.

I am spiralling. My fathers threat. It is lodged deep into my psyche. I can't get it out of my head. I can feel it. I can't stop thinking about it. It keeps popping up. I feel my inhibitions wear down. My anger feels endless. It keeps growing. I've never felt this way before. I don't think I like it.

I want to do something about it. He thinks I would stay down? He thinks this would slide? He thinks he is "a bit unstable"? If he is unstable, I am batshit crazy. He thinks he is hot shit for threatening me with death over a scenario that has an epsilon chance of even happening?

...He dares to threaten not only me, but my faultless hypothetical male lover too? This is what really gets me, you know? Kill me. Not him. Piece of shit.

He only needs to take a nap... That's all it would take.

Emotions are so hard. Why is it all so complicated? Why can't I just parry and move on? What's with this unending rage? I can't stop thinking about it. I am hanging on by a thread. This is the rage what all those manosphere incels think they have going on with their Fight Club edits... I am losing my mind. My marbles. I am unraveling.

Fuck.

It is far better to forget vengefulness and instead leave. Anything you do to them will only prompt more violence against you. Take the first opportunity and walk away.

Except, walking away in Magma's case would mean emigrating, because his dad threatened with violence wherever he is in Turkey, he said he will come and find them.
Which, in a country where part of the culture still does honor killings, is not a threat to take lightly.

But yeah. Walk away. To another country if needs be. Violence will only destroy your own life. Turkish prison's aren't nice.

Alright, alright. I won't make him wish I killed him. I will keep my cool... I am still absolutely fucking livid though...

Anyways. We'll see. This all sucks shit. But it isn't the end of the world. I'll live, anyhow.

Family honor and honor killings man. It is hard to appreciate in the West how deeply someone will perceive shame to go. When I was researching it for college, I had a hard time understanding that a 3rd cousin could feel their honor is so impugned they'd be willing to kill over it.

Honor killings are still a problem here in the Netherlands as well, with the Turkish dutch diaspora. Mostly women are victim, for refusing to be married off to some dimwit from a mountain village. It was becoming more and more rare, with the 2nd and 3d generation Turkish becoming more and more integrated into Western society, but sadly 20 years of anti-immigrant sentiment has driven a lot of 3d and 4th generation diaspora back into cultural regression, and orthodoxy with all it's nastiness like honor killings is no longer diminishing. Some of them kids nowadays are worse fanatics than their great grandparents ever were (actually a lot of their great grandparents were communist atheists fleeing Turkish repression, and now their great grandchildren are crazy salafists). Erdogan loyalists don't help either with getting rid of orthodox islam.

I was over here just kinda' going duh; the occasional murder of LGBT kids by family when they came out was pretty well known by the time I was exposed to the concept, heh. Killing someone over infidelity is a fairly regular thing that sees plenty of cultural attention, too. There's other examples.

It's easy to appreciate that in the West, you just got to pay attention to what we're calling it when it's at home :-\

Sorry, no, they are not the same. No one three links removed from your immediate family in America is going to drive to your house and kill you because you came out as gay, for "insulting the family honor." They may kill you because they don't like your sexual orientation, but Westerners do not view it as a perpetual stain on the extended family honor that can only be purged by murder. It's not even the murder, it's how they view it as affecting the honor of *EVERYONE*, even the unborn.

And even more, your 2nd cousin twice removed isn't going to come murder you over personal honor in America because you cheated on your husband. (Cheating on your wife does not provoke honor killings.)
