The problem is that there's a ton of competition in that market space, and companies like Rubbermaid are undercutting them. People also don't have leftovers as often nowadays due to a combination of higher restaurant usage than in yesteryear (restaurant leftovers come in their own container!) and aggressive meal planning to stretch grocery dollars further.

And Tupperware destroying its own market by being indestructible.

I imagine there’s a decent second-hand Tupperware market out there.

Once again I have hallmates who don't give a shit about cleaning up after themselves. Thankfully I'm not in the mood for this shit for another year, and I really don't give a fuck about them. I've already put up a note telling them to clean up after themselves, if this keeps going on I'm going to drag them into the kitchen and tell them to get their act together or I'm going to start engaging in some more extreme measures. Or I might just ask if there's another room I can move into so I don't have to deal with them being absolute animals.

Not yet, I'm willing to give them a chance. 'Sides, there's a non-zero chance I'd just be moving from one set of pigs to another.

That's terrible. Do you have any friends or family in the Netherlands (/EU) perhaps? We have a huge Turkish diaspora here (my town started recruiting Turkish labourers for DAF and Philips back in the 1950s). Some are orthodox and perhaps as crazy strict as your father, but also a lot of them are not and they would most likely be very helpful in getting you settled in here and learning the language.
Persecution because of sexuality is a valid reason for asylum here (although sadly we currently have an extremist rightwing government who has made stopping immigration their main topic).

About 60% of my neighborhood is Turkish haha. We have one big Albert Heijn supermarket here, and 5 Turkish supermarkets, 4 kebab / iskander shops and a few barbers.

Thanks, but no. I don't have any relatives around there. I am stuck here, sadly.

For what it's worth, I can kinda relate but only on the family does unacceptable stuff front of that. I am completely supportive of the whole gay whatever and I don't look at anyone differently. If one of my relatives was gay, I wouldn't care at all and I sure wouldn't pull that crap on them.

I don't know. I feel like there needs to be some kind of monastery for people to live in who come from bad home lives. Like, that's the wrong word, because I don't know if there is a right word. Some kind of safe housing/community. I seen a lot of people who basically got screwed due to upbringing/parents/family stuff that totally holds them back, and they basically have no choice because where else are they gonna go in the real world?

I really don't have an answer. I know there needs to be one, but I don't have any real world solution. Wish I did. You shouldn't have to be going through that stuff. I guess no one should.

The idea that there really isn't anybody out there that could help, is just foreign to me.

It means that there is no support network, no one to talk to, and no one to ask you first about it.

So... I am ruminating... And I have no one and nowhere to go... So, here it is.

Our situation with dad has been settled. I obliged. And so did he. We will act as normal. Stalemate by status quo. Back to square one.

But... I feel hate. Anger. My blood is boiling. My heart is tense. My mind is a storm of rage... I want him to suffer. I want him to feel the helplessness and intrusion I felt from him a billion times over. HE THINKS MY LIFE IS A TOY HE CAN DO AS HE WANTS WITH?! HE THINKS HE CAN END IT AS HE PLEASES?!
DOES HE THINK I WOULD COVER AND HIDE?! IF IT COMES TO IT, I HAVE NO FATHER!!!

This isn't fair. None of this is... Why can't I be? Why is it this way? It makes no sense. It makes no sense at all. Yet it does, perfectly even. I know the mechanisms behind both homosexuality and homophobia. I know why things are the way they are. But it is supposed to be this way? Why is everything so... cutthroat?

I guess I am just a lost, foresaken son in the end. Ill-equipped for pretty much everything. I am not lost, though. I know exactly what this all is. I know why they happen. So why does it feel like I understand nothing?

If this is too much, you can tell me. I understand you guys don't wanna see a young adult have a meltdown in the threads. But I need this. I need to shout somewhere. Even if it is just inside the lower boards of an ancient internet forum.

Fuck you, UK justice department. And fuck you sideways.

The two young girls that threw a can of soup over the glass plate protecting a van Gogh, after checking if the glass plate would protect the painting, have been sentenced to 2 years imprisonment, and 20 months imprisonment.

In response, 3 girls from the Stop Oil Now movement went back and threw soup over the same painting, a few hours after the verdict. Go, girls!

Sentencing 2 young girls for a non-violent, restrained protest like that, sending them to prison where they will most likely be the rape toy of real criminal women in prison for the coming 2 years? For what? Standing up for the future of our planet and our children in a non-violent way?  Shame on you Britain, shame on you.

I am tempted to buy a can of soup and a train ticket to our own van Gogh museum.

Stop Oil Now.
