Back to uni, back to the lecturer who is super fucking boring. I almost fell asleep today because I was a tiny bit tired and she was so dull it turned into very tired for a full hour.

Yea, but if you thought she was boring, imagine what she thought about the fella sleeping in her front row  ;)

I once woke up in a lecture with the lecturer looking at me.

I was too tired to actually figure out what the look meant, and probably went back to sleep.

I once decided to rest in a high school science class. I put my head down on my desk over my text book. Still awake, listening to what's going on, just with my head down.

I hear the class suddenly go dead quiet.

The teacher takes the book and slams it down on my desk right next to my head.

He expects me to sit bolt upright.

Instead, being prepared, I just remain there motionless for about 4 seconds.

I slowly raise my head up and look at him, and he asks me the question he'd last left off with, and I gave him the correct answer.

You could hear the classes' internal ooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhh shi-- going off.

The teacher was so pissed he didn't catch me out. Quietly told me to stay awake in class and went on with this lesson, then pulled me aside after class to essentially say "I didn't appreciate you disrespecting me in my own class."

By doing what, you sweaty goblin? Not giving you the satisfaction of being startled?

He got let go by the school system about a year later.

Still one of my proudest "napping in class" moments. Nothing like always having the right answer despite looking like you don't.

This xenophobic attitude being fostered by governments and media.

I just don't understand this "the other is our enemy, we can't let them develop any technology, we will ban imports of their products, we will ban use of their products that are already in our borders."

All this does is actually create enmity, where perhaps none existed before.  It then escalates into actual violence...

Why must we act this way? Aren't we above petty tribalism?

Ah, that's the thing about that mentality. It relies on everyone to use it, otherwise one party dominates everyone else.

Sadly humans have proven, repeatedly, to be duplicitous, power-craving bastards when organised into governments.

It isn’t even anything particularly nefarious. Politicians do it because the easiest way to get voted is to make people think you’re the head of their in-group, or at the very least in the side of their in-group. The easiest way to do that is to create a Them.

Insomnia. I know why, too. Sertraline I'm on has been making me sleepy this time but I ran out because the doctor evidently forgot to put it on repeat prescription, so I need to get an appointment to get more rather than just bunging the letter through the door. Thankfully the appointment's tomorrow. Anyway, my brain's obviously gotten used to having the sertraline there to assist it in making me tired, so without it it kind of... doesn't. End result, I don't feel tired until I hit a wall and suddenly feel absolutely shattered.

My gran's health has detiorated to the point the doctor thinks she isn't safe to live on her own anymore, which means a home or living with us. She doesn't like either option, but the latter is preferable, so we're trying to get her to come stay with us at least semi-permanently rather than just for a weekend.

We've had her up here for three days and she's already wanting to go home, because she feels ill and is embaressed about us cleaning up after her, and she doesn't know where anything is so she can't get plastic bags to hide things when she makes a mess.

Stomach pain when I swallow and when I've finished food. I suspect it's a bit of oesophagitis. Sucks because unlike a stomach bug I still get hungry.

Started up today.

On a maybe related note, I think I have a minor peanut allergy. I don't like them in the first place but it's a problem since that was what I was gonna feed the local jackdaws.

Management is making needless cutbacks. So far I'm ok but we'll see how long that lasts.

Boss is in denial and has gotten what he wants for years. This can't happen anymore, because we are not given resources and management refuses to care.

Boss still says, "What about X, Y, and Z?" This is him expecting magic.... Imposing an expectation no one can make happen practically anymore. I want to scream at him .... No! We no longer have the resources! What is wrong with you? I hate it more than you do and you're so totally insulated and clueless that you can just ... not care and continue to expect it regardless? How do you think I feel? The higher ups screwed us, that's what about X, Y, Z."

I'm looking for another job, but it takes forever. He even pays lip service to just half assing things to get them out the door, but then nit picks..... Dude, pick a lane! Either you realize you need me to just zoom through and half ass it because we are screwed if we don't (no choice) or you get to nit pick.... Not both at once..... They are planning a RIF anyhow and firing like 25% of the people so it will not get better... I wish he'd just shut up and not depress me while making me anxious about not doing things we are being forced  not to do..... Not happening.  In a slightly more far world, I would be allowed to slap him awake and he'd stop wasting time complaining about stupid decisions from on high as if I could somehow fix what the higher ups did. I hate it worse than he cluelessly does. I'm so sick of everyone looking at me expectantly like I should make their problems vanish. I didn't make this happen and am being stopped from fixing it anyhow.......

Why does no one have situational awareness? Why do I get these expectations placed on me to explain and justify crap I don't like either....

They said my right ear is fine, I was inclined to believe both were before he took the vacuum to the left one for what felt like a long time again. I don't want to go through the dialogue again but I sure feel like I failed to represent my interests again, and from there we both just reaffirmed what we wanted to hear.

How could I possibly get a good impression of how well I hear so shortly after loosing a few hundred meters altitutude an you held a vacuum in there. It's not fair. I'm terrified the impression that I heareven better on the left than on the right now will only verify as time goes on. In theory a reason to rejoice, is there a ceiling to how much hearing I can recover  :P? It would help if the annoying plops when I swallow, that I deem totally normal tbf, but also have no right or reason to overstay for half a week for like 250m, weren't so prevalent since we drove home. Anyway so yeah I got told if I fear it's not completly gone I need to call back and gently nudge the receptionist to make it understood that I need to be fast tracked, and then yesterday I missed a a call from another clinic with another doctor to whom I had been rescheduled after the guy who treated me on monday had to desist, yeah apparantly that dude is at two places at once, and today my domestic doctor called to check up and I was like oh how nice but of course that was never about me as i noticed the call i missed yesterday, and im sonewhat sure i dont have my rescheduled appointment anymore which was kind of a cool thing to have a few months down the line given that the guy from monday who probably diagnosed me correctly two weeks earlier has a few things tgat mildly concern me that i dont want to get into either because id prefer to trust that he was right about my right ear this time too, and i should probably cxll the other clinic so evertything is still as discussed or cancel and use the magic fast track and i hate every waking anxiety ridden second about this.

and how the fuck do you keep an ear dry after applying something dilluted in PG if youre not supposed tobtouch they never go into that detail in conclusion i used too much punctuation bc wats the point
