Yesterday's D&D game ended on a cliffhanger:

1 PC dead, one PC running like hell away from the battle, the 3 renaming PCs each have 4 negative levels and my Paladin special mount (a lion) just died.

The Vampire is at +5 hp, but we did kill his spellcaster sister.

We are so boned.  He can hit any of us on a roll of 9 or more, we can only hit him on a nat 20, and while 2 of us can bypass his DR, only one of us can do more than 5 points of damage (6, to be exact).

For non D&D types, this vampire has 40 or so Hit Points, and heals 5 points each round.  We have a 5% chance to hit him with any attack, and only a 35% chance of dealing more than 5 points of damage if we do hit.

Oh, and he hits us 45-60% of the time, and each time gives us 2 negative levels on top of any damage; we are level 7 and already have 4 negative levels, so even if he deals no damage, if he so much as *pokes* any of us 2 times, we die and become Vampire Spawn under his command.

Gah.

Who designed that encounter? Facing a Vampire alone for you seems like a suicidal task, let alone one of his companions as well.

Well, it's part of a published adventure.

However, technically, we should have been a level higher for the fight and our DM has always been bad about giving small loot, so we are always under powered in terms of gear - for example, my paladin has the only magic weapon in the party at level 7.

Still, what boned us was that he nailed our necromancer with a sneak attack that KOed him in one blow, and he had alot of spells prepared that would have helped alot.

Also, we could not roll for shit that night.  IIRC, we only got one attack to hit and deal damage before the level drains started to gimp us.

The real pain is just previously our necromancer managed to land a command undead spell on the guy - but we were forced to let him retreat when the city guard showed up, and his sister was able to dispel it before the final battle.

Maine.

Maine makes you sad? A quick google reveals a ban on same sex marriage.
If that's the case, then me too.

Fair enough.

Y'know, i'd rather have Pot legal rather than cigarettes.

Pot seems healthier, for the body at least.

I'm pretty sure a joint is like smoking five cigarettes, plus the whole "Makes you high" thing.

Well, an entire cavalry of firetrucks just went down my street. I hope whoever needed them didn't lose too much.

Weed doesn't have to be smoked though, there is other ways to use it, and if you use the other ways its actually quite good for you.

No, cigarettes are much more toxic. (I know this and yet I still smoke...  :-\)

People often preach about cigarettes while being smokers. It's wierd.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.
