And it's not just that either - even chain restaurants can't even hire managers that hire employees that can get simple orders correct.  And the time for service at "fast food" seems to be increasing too.

Turns out, when you underpay employees, jerk them around, refuse to give them enough hours to pay rent, then you treat them like subhumans, they don't have good morale or care if the business goes under.

Truly a shocker. /s

Seizing up is *like* seizing the means of production I guess...

I've finished Three Kingdoms 2010 version after watching it over last three months.

Man, it was a blast, and now I have nothing else to watch. Weh.
I've lost count of how many times I've rewatched that, and I can't stop recommending it to anyone who's even slightly interested in epics. Cao Cao's such a lovable bastard, Liu Bei IS a hypocrite and I don't care, but my favourite aside from the big heavy hitters (SIMA YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII) is without a doubt the much maligned Wei Yan. JUSTICE FOR WEI YAN

Who's your favourite? Once you have 3k you can just keep rewatching 3k

So it's ok to take it out on the customers?

I guess I really did grow up in a different era....

After this praise, I'm going to watch this series. (I've been looking for some series in Chinese.) But Jesus - 90 episodes? Who has time for that?

Its not even that.

A neutral expression on the face is literally poison for some customers.  Nothing less than a permanent smile for these people.

Wholly crap, folks.  (Not a typo - I mean that is entirely crap.)

I wasn't talking about dealing with difficult customers. I was talking about the attitude that causes clerks to be paying more attention to their cell phones than doing their job.  This extends all the way up to the "big companies" I mentioned too, like individuals just doing the bare minimum to earn a paycheck (however meager it might be) rather than doing a job.

It's the fundamental loss of the most basic "treat others how you want to be treated - even if others don't treat you that way."

That's because a "neutral" expression is not neutral. Neutrality is conveyed through short, polite smiles, not blank faces. Blanking your face to someone is impolite.

No. It is not impolite to leave your face in a resting position instead of forcing a fake.grin on it.

When you pay the bare minimum, you get the bare minimum.
