Itīs the latitude. In Sweden days are longer  during summer. Historical vikings sailed mostly during summer (due to icebergs), and a mile was regarded as the distance travelled in half a day (in old Norse mile is written as "MIL", and the etymology comes from "meal", aka, the distance you travel before having lunch at noon). Since the time to noon, and consequently the distance, was longer than their Norman cousins down south, Swedish miles are consequently longer

We should rework all the measurement systems to be clean multiples of Planck units. Then you have nice things like the speed of light in your usual measurement system being exactly 10^9 distance / time, because it just is.

Well I'm a little worried because that is the closest I've ever had a forest fire to me, and I don't rightly now how far or fast they can spread. And Sweden is currently a stack of tinder on top of a powder keg.

I know when we had them up around the Pine Barrens in NJ the local news would let us know if it was time to go.

I can't tell whether this is a joke or someone actually told you this once.

But it isn't true.
