Or you could offload some of the more important/emotional memories to a computer or a separate second brain in a jar or something. This is a post-singularity society we're talking about.

That is practically what I meant, yeah, though I was vague.
But those offloaded memories [written accounts] will probably lack emotional context.  Unless the computer contains a full simulation of your previous iteration which runs whenever you need to vicariously recall a precursor memory.

Memory isn't a consistent thing as it is, anyway.

Yeah, but that's an acceptable loss for me. Your mileage may vary, though. Now, let's put the thread back on its rails before the Toadmobile arrives..

Hmm. Fear of death is probably healthy, I'd say. That doesn't mean that just because you fear death, you have to build your life around fear of death. Life is long (longer than many things) and humans are adaptable, so you can go and accomplish plenty of different things, and feel different things, and be different things. Don't be afraid of being "locked in" to any particular feeling, because you are more than just one feeling.

As for "what's supposed to happen after death", I'd advise you to not worry too hard about it. A lot of people treat it as the most important thing in the world, but you don't have to.
I would love to say that I'd want to not worry about it, but honestly that isn't true. I'm scared of not worrying about it, almost as much as I am scared of what might actually happen. Its just scary to me. And as long as I'm scared of that, it feels like it'll always be there.
Did you see my suggestion? Could alleviate quite a bit of your fear. It isn't anything to fear if you can potentially avert it, in fact.

Death is natural. Nothing to be scared of methinks. The act sucks but once your consciousness cessates it's probably not bad at all.

I think the best way to do it is to be mildly scared of death for most of your life (to prevent you from dying too soon) but to be ready to die by the time you near the end.

Just make enough human sacrifices to some dark god or other to earn an assured place at his or her right hand in the next world.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?

People never think that through. Sure, you're good as the right hand of the dark deity when you show up...but what happens when someone else makes enough sacrifices to take that place?

Thinking anything good happens to the person pushed out is probably overly optimistic.

I recommend one of those rad Asian gods with like 16 right hands. Plenty of room for everyone.
