So I got a notice on my door this morning for a noise warning. God I'm so fucking ashamed of myself over this.

I'm now officially on the way to being declared legally invalid for the purposes of employment, and once everything is file and processed I'll be receiving disability checks rather than unemployment benefits.

It's probably the right call to make in this situation, considering how little headway I've made on the "doing something constructive" front for the past few years, but it still stings a bit.

There is of course the opportunity to leave invalid status at some later point and enter back into the world of real people, but that's much further down the line.

Yeah... This is pretty much the holy grail for the younger "exploit the system" crowd. Free money for an indefinite period, no tangible strings attached. For me, it just feels like I've failed myself, the system, and everything.

Meh, it's the system that has failed you, by not providing a workplace where you can do whatever it is that you can do to feel constructive despite whatever your handicaps may be, instead of trying to coerce you to do things you can't do, and making you feel guilty about not being able to.

It's not the system's job to do that, though.

If "the system" requires people to gain money so that they may exchange it for goods and services, "the system" kind of has some kind of obligation to not go "fuck you, you don't get to do the thing we say you have to".

I know this is a serious thing, but when I read this, the first thing that came to mind was that thing with homer simpson and 20 dollars wanting a peanut
