There are European lions??? Wtf? Why didn't anybody told me that before??? What else are you hidding guys???!!

There definitely were European lions. They killed them all off. The last ones survived in the area of Greece up until the AD era.

You're right, I am definitely not drunk enough. *engage sad*
I've barely gotten over my most recent hangover, though. Plus I've been trying to get over a cold for about a week now...

When I heard "Den" I thought "Bears"

I was thinking foxes or badgers.
I can't be the only person who was thinking "couch"

I'll help.

Man, I don't get the point of people-relationships anymore. They end 1 of 3 ways - either they die, betray you, or leave. I'd rather live on the side of a mountain playing mario kart.

Humans are most effective when engaging in jolly co-operation, rather than independently. A relationship is just trust, and trust allows cooperation, and cooperation is useful.

I ate a whole chocolate pie today. I shouldn't have. it was delicious

Though I did go for a bike ride. I rode by a concert that was going on, I honestly thought the music was just not my style, it was loud and obnoxious, and not of a genre that benefits from being loud and obnoxious, it almost reminded me of what should have been calm beach music, but amplified through speakers so powerful that you could hear it just fine down the street, and up close it was unbearable. Moreover, to get the privilege of getting up close to the stage and be closer to the losers that are responsible for this cacophony, you would have had to pay $30! I wouldn't have stopped to listen to them for free... but I did think of paying the fee, just because this seemed like one of those rare opportunities to mingle with people that are my own age and good looking. People whom I normally interact with on a day-to-day basis are in wildly different demographics usually, and are some combination of hideous, diseased, depressed, obese, infirm, or just plain beaten down by life and waiting for death; and here was my chance to mingle with people that, atleast for this momentary blink in time, are actually beautiful, healthy, living! I passed up this opportunity, I justified this due to hating the music, but also because it felt like I was looking at another, better species of people to whom I don't belong, and I showed up badly unprepared, being just in my exercise clothes while it was clear everyone else had dressed up for an occasion. I wonder if I should have tried to taken the hit to both wallet and ears and tried to force the situation regardless, but I suppose my cautious (read: cowardly) sensibility would never have allowed for that under any circumstances.

Try not to let appearances deceive you, everybody hurts. It's just that giving the appearance of perfection happens to be in vogue.

Also, it's really quite impossible to talk to anyone at a concert anyways... So unless your definition of "mingling" is "rubbing shirts together to create static electricity", I don't think that that's the place to get your fill.

-snip-
What kind of music do you like, Josh? Why not search through events on Facebook, or if you don't like that site, something like Meetup.com or Bandsintown, and see what's going on that you might be interested in? I maintain that live music (even if it's not heavy metal ;)) is one of the best ways of meeting people. Most gigs don't consist of weird outdoor areas with blasting speakers and the inability to hear what anyone is saying, they'll be in a bar or other venue, with a good mix of music and socialising going on.

Of course, I can't speak for the music scene in your area, and not every event is going to be the perfect chance to strike up new acquaintances, but if you find music you enjoy and go along to see and listen to it, you'll be "rubbing shoulders" with like-minded folks who already have one shared interest with you.

Also if you know the venues near you, they typically list shows at least a month in advance on their site.

In Kabul, Afghanistan, at least 7 people were killed by a suicide attack.
All of the victims are important senior muslim clergymen. They had just signed a decree condemning suicide attacks minutes earlier.
