Feckin' Greeks.

Didn't do as well as I thought I would on an essay about Sparta.

Hehe, reminds me of that time someone justified child death if the parents were atheists because God is trying to make them Christians.

The Media Council of Uganda decided at the last moment that the Dutch film 'de Eetclub' (The Dinner Club) will not be allowed on the Euro-Uganda film festival.
According to the council, the film glorifies homosexuality, which is a criminal offense in Uganda. The council took the effort to supply exact times of scenes in the movie that they considered to be criminally glorifying homosexuality.
Furhtermore, the council rules that the film's scenes showing steamy sex, kissing in front of children, women smoking, and cursing are not in accordance with Uganda culture.
They conclude that "what the film calls a dinner club, is in fact a brothel".

The Dutch embassy in Uganda has confirmed the ban on the embassy's Facebook account, and states that the Netherlands has formally withdrawn from the film festival, which according to the festival organisation is meant to "show the cultural diversity and richness of both Europe and Uganda'.

The Dutch film De Eetclub (2010) is based on the likenamed book by Dutch author Saskia Noort. It's a drama / psychological thriller.

Presently in a funk.

Don't know if it's because my girlfriend refused to deal with the issues when I tried to talk to her about it because the only time we had to speak about it in person, she was too tired to do anything... Including reciprocating an "I love you"...

Or the fact I've been working every day since Sunday and I'm still going at it tomorrow. And because of this, I've had no time to hang out with my friends, and you know, I hate feeling this way, but I always feel jealous when my friends decide to do stuff without me but tell me about it... Like it's completely unintentional; they're in a group chat. And I understand they want to do something because everyone is available. But it doesn't get rid of the feeling of "fuck, I missed out on fun"...

Hopefully going to have time to talk about what the deal is with my girlfriend tomorrow, since it's her day off. I'm just hoping she doesn't shrug it off like the previous time before I last saw her where she just ignored what I said. For those wondering "why can't you just talk to her in person?" Well, see my second thought on why I may be in a funk. Plus, she said she's willing to talk about it over text, and while I'm not keen on this, I think it's my only option.

I'm really hoping to mend this problem. And again, I don't know if I'm doing things wrong because things she was ok with before, she's not now, or if something is going on in her life and she just needs some time. Regardless, she isn't saying anything about anything... Except that when I brought up the "you tell me you want X but don't want me to do that, or you don't want Y but now you do", she said, in regards to the cuddling with a pillow instead of me but saying all she's comfortable with is cuddling, is that she isn't comfortable with human contact as it gives her anxiety.

Never before has this been brought up... Especially since she usually instigates the cuddling... So at this point, I REALLY have no idea what she wants...

Just kind of rambling my thoughts like I'm at a rehab meeting again because, as stated before, I can't get to one because I'm so busy...

Also, to everyone who commented on my post, I think I needed the push to talk to her about it and I appreciate it

But *hugs*.

-snip-
You know, I was in a relationship where those general things happened.  And a lot of other things, I mean the context might be utterly different here.  But if you aren't getting anything positive out of the relationship and there isn't any particular reason her lack of affection would be temporary, um.  Breaking up with that GF did very good things for me.  If someone is not going to do what's expected of them in a relationship (which includes a certain amount of availability, affection and communication) then you don't *have* to stick around for them.

If you don't want to then forget I said anything.  You know the context here a lot better than me.  Remember that you are worthy of love and no matter what happens there will always be other people out there that you can befriend and other people out there that could love you.  Whatever you do in this situation make sure that its what you want and not what you think other people want.

When I moved into this place one of the biggest draws was that I expected it to be an all-vegetarian household. Well, apart from the cat.
But, shortly after I got here, one of my friends (and now, housemates) shame-facedly admitted to me that he sometimes eats meat, adding some weak excuse along the lines of "otherwise he gets weak". (I mean, really? C'mon, if you can't manage your diet well enough to stay healthy on all-veg, then I dunno, start taking some friggin' supplements or something, don't just jump ship straight to the dark side!)

Now I want to cook some scrambled eggs for breakfast, but the one frying pan is still sitting on the stove with gross chicken residue left in it from last nice. Eurgh. I thought I'd left such problems behind for the foreseeable future. I am additionally disappointed in him for not just eating meat, but failing to at least clean up after himself. :(

I suppose I could try cooking them in a saucepan instead, although my cooking skills aren't the best and I fear even such a small change might affect the outcome. Or I could just walk to the supermarket to get more noodles and crack an egg into those instead, or maybe I should just say to hell with it and go get a veg burger from Hungry Jack's.

I'm starting to feel like the person I've described myself as just doesn't exist, like I've been playing the character called (real name goes here) and one day recently lost the script. I feel nothing in common with myself from as little as a month ago, when I was writing scholarship essays about all I wanted to do in life. If everything burned to the ground tomorrow-family, friends, work, school, all of it-what remains of me without those? I don't know why I feel like this but it's really bothering me.

Cooking in a saucepan is not a bad idea, and if you can cook with a skillet, you can cook with a saucepan.
Cooking in noodles is definitely a good idea, too, if you're up for it.
I know you think that your cooking skill isn't good, but try to cook, and get good. And I'm not saying "become a chef", I just mean "get confident in your ability". Don't be afraid of messing up a meal, mistakes are how you learn, in cooking especially.
I'm not a gourmet chef, but I know I don't suck at it, and trust me, I used to suck at it. Learning to cook decently well makes your life way better. If you want me to give you any tips, I'll help best I can!

...Also, consider getting a skillet or whatever, and telling your roommate that if he has to cook meat, to do so in just that one, so as not to contaminate the other cooking ware for everyone else.
