For the love of God, *Hugpats*.

Please remember that there are people who care about you, unlike those two assholes who call themselves your parents.

What was it someone said? The best way to beat an abuser is to live a happy, normal life away from them, letting them know that in spite of all they did to you, it couldn't stop you.

Of course cutting them out of your life and making sure they know they didn't have a positive impact on it would probably be incredibly cathartic as well. But then people can behave... stalker-y when you try to cut them out and they're having none of it.
But if they're stalking you you can have them arrested!

Mm, I don't think I can keep up being impartial/neutral about this, so here's a video I think will get my point across and maybe put a smile on your face.

Oof, yeah. Exactly.

Inconsistency and logical short-circuits like that are pretty common with Borderline Personality Disorder. With folks like that, the problem isn't that others don't do what they say; the problem (in their mind) is generally that someone ignored their advice, even though it's completely misguided and not offered altruistically. Caroline, you're right to reject it, since they have no fucking clue what you want or who you are, and have actively stifled your independence and identity. I wish I could see a plan of action to suggest, but I don't have one.

There are ways to take an "I appreciate your offer of help, but..." kind of approach with BPD folks... but walking on eggshells like that still fucking sucks. I hope this works out okay, hon.

@Caroline

Knowing what I do about your situation, all I can say is... I felt my heart lurch in my chest reading your paragraphs. And I almost cried. This is probably just because its 1:30am in the morning and everything else youve gone throu gh,  but... Please be safe.

You are beautiful, strong, and brave. Remember that. I don't post in this thread often, mostly due to the sadness I feel whenever Ivisit here and a new page has been posted, but I know you closely enoughto know that you deserve better. But that's, sadly, not usually how these things work.

My sad is that I still have done barely any of my homework due next week over the 1st week of my two week break, and any attempt I make to be productive fails, unless I get really involved, where I'll go wild. Sadly, theres also chores etc.

Ah well, its nothing much though. My condolences to the rest of you, and everyone, please be safe.

So I've been the local police precinct recently because of my aforementioned tablet-troubles, and the cops were grumpy and there was a lot of waiting involved, but hey, I can deal. This is not about that.

Thing is, I was waiting there in the company of a dozen Tajik guys who were there while the cops were checking their work permits with their higher-ups/the migration office/whoever it is that deals with that. So they've taken those guys in in the morning, and they had to wait until fucking 10 PM in a room that has two chairs and that's it. No food, no nothing. Thank the lawd there was a bathroom there.

Why the fuck do they have to mistreat and disrespect people like this? Would it have been so fucking hard to bring out some more chairs or get them a bottle of cheap-ass soda and some bread from the store that's literally five goddamn steps away while you're on break? Hell, they could've escorted one of them there so he could get stuff for the rest of them, but nah, I guess they have important crimes to deal with, can't spare five fucking minutes so that a dozen men don't have to sit hungry on a cold-ass floor for the whole fucking day, woo.

And when they complained to the on-duty officer (a bald-ass, fat-ass motherfucker with the worst case of Resting Bitch Face I've ever seen), he snubbed them, gave them his best impression of being deaf (he did that to everybody, not just them), and finally straight-up threatened them. Smug fucking bastard.

They were pretty swell guys, too. One of them lent me his phone so I could call home about all the waiting. I won't get into the whole migrant rights problem in Russia because it's a long and very politically-heavy story, but shit, man. Why they gotta treat people like they aren't people? I mean, they were assholes to me too, but I was an asshole right back at them, while the Tajiks were basically resigned to this bullshit, with the exception of an old guy who was their senior (he complained to himself and to me because I listened). It's like this happens to them on the reg. Bloody hell.

Only thing that cheered me up is that the ethnic Russians that were waiting with them agreed that this was some bullshit, and were generally sympathetic. We can be pretty racist little shits sometimes, and it's nice to see that it's not the case a lot of the time.

It's like, the cops treat everybody like trash, but they treat those guys like they're supertrash. I dunno, we were waiting together a lot of the time, and I just feel that they were more assholish to them than to me. I get that they have their own problems with funding and that it's a stressful job, but I just feel that a lot of that stress would be lessened if they weren't such bastards to random strangers.

Bigotry-fueled mistreatment of relatives from another country

My only silver lining that I can find is that we deal with these assholes now so we can record their actions and not worry about them when we have, say, highly advanced extraterrestrial beings for roommates.

I'm sure we'll find something to be shitty about then, too.

Thing is, I'm not sure if it's even bigotry. Like, the whole system is geared toward making life shit to migrant workers, but I dunno if those particular cops mistreated the Tajiks because they're Tajiks, or just because they don't give a shit about the comfort of anybody who happens to be in the precinct. I dunno which is worse.

I'm not sure where you got that they were my relatives, though. Or is it some metaphor I'm not getting?

Well, we were complaining, but the Amazing Major RBF successfully stonewalled us, I am ashamed to say.

Geez, Caroline. I hope you're okay. You're a smart and capable person, no matter how much your father yells at you. Just think: What would GLaDOS do? :P
