Please do not quote:

There is exactly one type of work I can't / won't do: Roofing / Ceiling and nailguns.

Why? Cause I got shot in the head with a nailgun. Forgetting the physical injuries and effects like balance problems, it scares the living shit out of me. I can NOT do it. I have a panic attack. It sucks.

I have helped my parents do a whole lot of other stuff. This is the one thing.... One thing that won't work. It is the one thing my mom just doesn't give a damn and belittles me about. To a lesser extent, dad too, though only due to the other whelming amount of mom's reaction. She keeps insisting it's "too bad" etc, and as if it was just something I should push through, as though I am not strong enough somehow. I survived a nailgun shot to the head and her response mere hours later was "grow up and stop being a wuss." This was before my pain meds had kicked in. Keep in mind these people blow up and throw a fit about just about anything.

It's insane. I could've helped with the drywall and just about anything else but no. She called me in knowing we'd be doing this kind of stuff. Dad is pissed because he thinks using screws is sufficient and shouldn't trigger my anxiety problem. I don't call the shots on this and neither does he or she. This pisses them both off to no end. Explanations mean nothing to them as they demand the universe meet their personal definition and expectation. God help anyone they can yell at if it doesn't.

Jesus, be happy someone is willing to help you anything. Nopes, not good enough. Whatever. "You act like you're dying," she says. No, this is a panic attack and if I could control it I would. It is in a very specific situation that she denies the reality of despite it being independently confirmed repeatedly.

"You just have to get over it," follows, "I have a problem with a lot of things," and "that's just too bad." No, it's different. Complaining about it and insisting or implying the person is either faking it or needs to just suck it up is incredibly insulting and also just being a jerk who doesn't want to face the real world. Yes, it is too bad, for me. It isn't about her, because it is literally my head. O, it inconviences you once in a while? How terrible, it's not like it's your skull / brain, but low and behold she can still complain. It is my head, but I shouldn't complain or show the slightest hint of concern? Lovely.

Lovely. Professional psychologists have helped me with this, as have doctors, but mom doesn't care because the universe should follow her rules. Mom's prescription for everything she doesn't like, is for her to yell at it until all is as she wishes. She yells a lot....

I don't know what else to say, but good grief, they sound kind of asshatty.  You were shot in the head with a nailgun.  :v

Okay, look.

Professional psychological help is really dependent upon the people involved.  So yeah, sometimes, it might not help you with one particular psychologist, but if that's happening, they're obligated to refer you to someone else if you ask.  That is like, literally the first thing in the ethical code IIRC, although I haven't read it recently enough to be sure.

Hey. If you're tired of reading all the admittedly repeating messages, skip past them, or better yet, join up in figuring out said solution. If we all only posted if we had a solution that fucking works, this thread would be a barren goddamn wasteland of salt and tears.

Psychiatric professionals?  Tiruin linked their ethical code, which I read.

So shit that we'd rather suggest a teenager not seek it to help with their issues of harming themselves when they feel they have nobody to talk to.
Get someone else, duh.
Fuck, bunch of randoms on Internets is way better than a psychologist, especially the ones that are freely and widely available (school ones, etc.) and spending a fortune on a guy who will treat you like you're mentally retarded seems quite counterproductive.

if that's happening, they're obligated to refer you to someone else if you ask.
This is news to me. Would be really useful before, but eh.

Unless you get banned.
In which case it's end of Bay12 for you. :v

I've enjoyed pretty bad high-pitch tinnitus for a couple of weeks now... It varies a bit depending on time of the day, and if I block the that ear when its at its louder, it often becomes louder to me than my own speech, though most of the time its covered by something else. Right now I'm watching TV and wearing headphones and its pretty loud. I've had some trouble getting sleep because of it and it seems to be harming memory and hindered me at my work too.

Its not hearing damage for sure, as other than that my hearing is normal(it was tested by a doc), I don't listen to music very loud, I dont go to clubs or discos and I wear muffs and/or plugs when shooting or doing something else with loud sounds. It apparently isnt an infection either, in case its some kind of an allergic reaction I got some pills for it this week and I've had them for three days. No effect yet.

I've had tinnitus briefly before when I've been both drinking and very tired so I guess this could be related to constant long time stress. But hey, its only my first sad this year!

edit: its been the same pitch before so I'm leaning towards something tiredness or stress induced myself. It doesn't vary in pitch either, at all.

GameDragon, do you want to PM me too?

It's okay.  Really.  I'm just glad you're better now.

@Erkki:Did you talk with your doctor?  A specialist?

@Kot:If you've been to a therapist and they were treating you like you were an idiot, they're doing it wrong.  And school psychologists can be good too, it just depends, again, on the individual psychologist.

No headache or vertigo associated. I've had headache with migraine earlier this summer, though... Or I think it was migraine; some moving temporary visual disturbances in one eye(actually, both tinnitus and migraine symptoms have been in left eye...) for max 5 min, then shortly after that strong but very brief headache. Last time that has happened was over a month ago.

@Erkki:Did you talk with your doctor?  A specialist?

Not to a specialist yet, doctor yes. I'll go see a ear specialist next week if it doesn't finally disappear with better rest and those pills.
