People play Star Trek Online? ???
I certainly do. Though generally only for a month or so, then leave it for awhile, then come back for a month. I mean shit, I spent 300 bucks on a lifetime membership so I damn well BETTER play it :P
And its one of the more popular MMOs at the moment actually, just not on this forum.

I played it for a week or two, and didn't really find anything that distinguished it from all the other MMOs out there.

When did you play? It kinda improved MASSIVELY when the Legacy of Romulus expansion hit.
Also SPACE COMBAT isn't distinguishing?!

Anyway, nows a good time to go back to it, or start for those who want to try it. Couple events hitting in the next month that make getting a head start easier. Check my thread if interested.

One of my past roommates played Star Trek Online, but he was a Trekkie of the highest order, like a serious fucking old-school Trekkie but too young. He also convinced me that Voyager wasn't terrible, so now I can't even discuss Star Trek without people trying to kill and dismember me.

There was also at least one debate about the validity of the Prime Directive that lasted until 5 AM.

I played as Klingon up until a little past the mission where you storm Klingon Hell, fight the Klingon Devil, and Klingon Jesus makes you a sword. That was weird.

Hey Caz :< I've a PMbox full of your PMs that I would love to respond to. I'm sorry for not responding on time in a timely manner. Thanks for caring with those PMs. That goes to all the PMs in there from many folks.

Um ._. I play the flash game...
Star Trek: Alien Domain

Plus, people train as doctors (which is long, difficult, and very expensive) partially because doctors tend to be wealthy.  It's an incentive to reward the personal investment.

There are other reasons to go into medicine, but the economics are most reliable.
I don't know whether to laugh or to cry whenever I hear this stuff.

I can forward CP's statements :/ Have family who are doctors--really good people, not earning much and many of their cases are at times for free--check ups, if the people can't afford it, stuff like that. The real thing here is your goal in going for it; if it's a getting rich plan, it will be...a very stressful and unfulfilling one if money is your goal ._.

I don't pretend to understand economic status of doctors internationally...
I do know that here in the USA doctors treat my nurse family members like shit, and are pretty much famous for making a lot of money.  And I believe they earned that by studying hard and forking over a lot of money for several years.

We'd be screwed if they hadn't, because they know how to fix people with serious problems.  And they have to deal with unfair "malpractice" lawsuits from bereaved survivors.

My uncle's a doctor, and he's certainly comfortably well-off. I think it probably varies quite a bit by country. The cost of living here is pretty low, for instance.

I'd add that it probably varies the most by specialization and level of specialization.

'cept they also get the benefit of the doubt in court. A professional's word is worth more than a layman's. Unless they have god-awful record keeping and aren't noting down what they did every step of the way during treatment, they'll be alright.

Benefit of the doubt is meaningless when the insurance necessary to keep that doctor on staff skyrockets every time there is an ALLEGATION of malpractice, nevermind a ruling.

Not if it means they can hike up the costs of treatments because of it.

Maybe socialised medical care isn't a bad idea.
