I'm pretty sure they're legally bound to treat everyone who walks in with a problem.
To do otherwise should be considered murder or manslaughter.

Though I mean, sex and gender are a matter of biological and societal optimization respectively, imo. Like, the reason that we allow the latter to be fluid is because we are movi towards a more meritocratic stratification of society. Basically, if an individual looks female, acts female, feels female, they deserve that label. The same goes for if they identify as a space hamster. Except they probably don't look like a space hamster.

But you know, when people can undergo surgery to be attack helicopters, I will support them. Helicopters are sexy and awesome and will behead you if you pick a fight with them.

They have to do something, but they don't have to try very hard... The quality of American hospitals are geared towards the income level of their clients AND the quality of care they provide is also likewise geared towards their income level.

This isn't a new or unknown aspect of American Healthcare.

He is getting second hand treatment as a second class citizen.

He went to the ER and they are stumped.

If that has ANYTHING to do with them not going for obvious tests... I'll be pissed at them.

If my friend is the one being an idiot... I'll be pissed at him.

There are symptoms I haven't even added... I am honestly scared he is dying.

I'd probably say that a few years back. Actually, I did say it on IRC a lot.

Yeah and if I discover a cancer cure, I'm murdering everyone with cancer if I charge money for it.
Or if I develop a cancer *treatment*.
Or if I make food, or rent property.

Anyone who provides something necessary is obligated to just offer it for free.  Surely they'll make a living somehow, and further research and developed will be incentivized by... something.

And what I've thought of saying to them is what a few people on that forum have already said.
It makes me feel... bad.
The words are also quite haunting, frankly.

If one of my fellow humans came to me, near death, and I had the skill and resources to cure them, I would.

You guys are missing the point of cancer treatment cost. You need to charge money so that you can fund cancer treatment to begin with. Like, that's the reason why doctors get paid. Even if healthcare is "free", that's citizen paying the government paying the doctors.

Yeah true enough, I would too.

That's different from doing it professionally, though.  A professional, by definition, has to get paid...  Because living costs money.  People with large inheritances can give their time for free, but right now we only have a very few post-scarcity people.

Hopefully that'll change as technology advances.
