I just realized I haven't left my house in more than 4 days, and over the last three I've hardly moved (in the sense that I've just been lying about on the couch/my bed) or eaten. I'm normally reluctant to self-diagnose, but I think I may have become depressed again. I certainly feel numb and apathetic enough.

My nan's friend is in the hospital. Has been for almost a week now. And they've been doing nothing but fucking everything up since he's been admitted.

They've been misdiagnosing, mistaken about scheduling, mixing people up, sending him to the wrong room multiple times now, and haven't fed him since Saturday.

Well, that's incredibly sucky.
I hope he's keeping his chin up and hanging in there- and the same with your nan and the rest of you.

Youre in Canada, right Blackflyme? I guess your healthcare can be as shitty as ours sometimes.

Anyway, not meant to bash you or anything (though it may sound like it), hope your grandmothers friend does okay.

Can I ask what happened though that he's in the hospital?

Wasn't feeling well. He's an older guy, and already had a few problems, like diabetes. They found cancer on his liver. Then on his lungs. Possibly in his spine as well. They keep saying back bones, so I don't know.

He'd been in and out of the hospital for a while in the past few weeks, for various reasons.

... Back bones? S?

... Are we sure he's in an actual hospital? And not, like, a circus performance? If someone starts squeaking, I'd bug out if I were him.

Is your spine not made of several sections, Descan?

I know we call it the "backbone" but it really is multiple segments.

Well there is a condition where all your vertebrae fuse into one giant bone. Immense pain and cripples you for life apparently.

if descan is as deep into transhumanism as i am, then his spine is an articulated steel rod filled with discount ethernet cords

EDIT: Shit, thought this was the WTF thread for a second. Sorry for the shitpost.

I hope things go well for that guy, BlackFlyme. Sounds like he deserves better.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Actually, I'm an arthropod. I don't have a spine. I just have a wing case.

Not too different than one of the corrective surgeries for scoliosis, from what I've heard. Forcibly straighten your spin with metal rods. Lifelong, uncomfortable, and you can't even bend over that well afterwards.

Thanks for the well wishes. He does deserve better.

I've spent too much time in the tropics to donate. Plus what Descan mentioned, which I hadn't even considered before. Although in the US it's now a one-year wait (used to be a lifetime ban).
... Huh. I think you mentioned before that you weren't strictly straight. Still, a surprising development.

* Descan jots notes.
Also, it is now headcanon that Descan has a little black book with a list of forum members, organized by f*ckability.

I am....okay with this.
