Wow you yanks do your education in a weird order. Looked up Calculus 2 and it's a mix of stuff I'm doing now and stuff I did 4 years ago. Integration is a bitch though and I wish you the best of luck.

Aye, tutors will probably be more helpful (and responsive) than the Math thread around here, and there's a good chance your university has those sorts of things. If not, the Math department almost certainly offers that on their own initiative. Also, yes, Calculus 2 is shit, and you will probably do badly in it. This does not reflect poorly on you. I took my C-, and my only regret is that I let the class deter me from pursuing more math.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

State of emergency declared in some parts of Zimbabwe due to drought. It's gonna be tough.

Apparently Auckland's heatwave is not letting up. Meanwhile in Christchurch we're flip-flopping between seasons each day.

"please, I'm very scared. I'm barely twenty. I don't want to die"

It did not end up well.

That's some heavy shit.
I've no idea what I should say here, but I hope you're coping okay.

I am totally going to hold one-man party commemorating the start of Polish-Soviet War of 1920 because why not, though it saddens me deeply.
96th anniversary. Fitting.

...I barely passed calculus 1 with a c-. Had a 69 and the teacher was nice enough to bump it up to a C letter grade.

Woooooooooooooooo. This bodes well for my future in calculus 2 and 3. Calculus 3 is also required for a computer science major. Woooooooooo.

Calculus is really damn hard. The only reason I've done as well in precalc as I have is asking questions of basically everyone involved whenever I run into issues. Find people to ask those questions, then ask them until you actually understand the thing, because it usually takes multiple explanations. Having comprehension issues with calculous equates with stupidity like getting run over by a train has to do with insufficient physical strength. Technically true, but not a useful method of self-evaluation.

Edit: Also, here's the link to the math thread, for whoever's interested. http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=67111.2100;topicseen

Heiterverzweiflung. Not a legit German word so much as something a friend and I made up in German class once. "Carefree despair". When life is so fucked that you can't stop laughing.

It feels like it's been 8 for five hours.I have two hours to go and no more breaks. This break is almost over, time to go feed cheap food to meth-heads and hicks.
