I got home and was shouted at by alcoholic grandfather (Who is drunk-It was 4:00 Pm when I got home, so fuck right off) for not understanding his impossible to understand instructions, following which I hear porn from the kitchen. He has headphones. He wasn't using them. This went on for a solid 5 minutes.
He's killing himself and pissing me off and I wish I could do something about it. Every time someone tries to talk to him about it he denies it like it's news of the plague- He thinks we're all fucking stupid, slurring "I haven't had a drink all day" to my grandmother who is at her breaking point. He's not much better sober, usually overly crabby from a hangover I expect. I wonder if he just thinks the only cure for it is more booze.
I dunno why I bother to post in this thread, though. I'd probably shove this more in the rage category but alas. Besides, this is a nice thread for venting.
As for those above me, especially Kot, I can only wish you the best. You seem like a pretty solid guy, for what it's worth. Hope things get better, for all of us, I guess.
They're only painting with too broad a brush if your assumption about them rejecting the cases where that makes sense is true, which it might not be.
not really - the literal text of his post meets my description of painting too broadly, as it does not allow for the case i brought up as a counterexample. the post begins with a description of my expectation of his response to the rest of the post. perhaps it was overly mean, though.
That's the exception, not the rule.
I'm talking about shit like Adobe changing all their software that used to be installable to a subscription model.
They need to make money. Subscriptions aren't that bad, to be honest. I don't pay many due to lacking a steady source of income, and I think some are absolutely braindead. (Looking at you, XBOX Live and the PS4 version of PSN. I want to play multiplayer for free.)
