Why am I even looking at facebook it just makes me sad.

I doubt I'll be able to ask my crush out, but at the same time sending her a message on fb seems so tempting >.>

Also, my new therapist still hasn't called to make an appointment :/

Asking a person out over facebook is...not a good tactic if you aren't already dating that person. Better to do it in person.

Just saying hey and conversing or something is probably fine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I made a comment about my grandfather being particularly cantankerous as of late. Turns out he was diagnosed with diabetes but refuses to tell anyone. My parents know, but only because my grandmother slipped, and so are pretending not to know. Siiigh, nobody in this family tells me anything.

Once again, I can't find the right words to say to a sad that just happened.

Here's a comparison:
Think about Uncharted's Nathan Drake. He's put into situations that are just as, if not more dangerous than the situations Lara is put into in the newer TR games all the time. So why is the tone so much different? Because the whole time, Lara is crying and whining and screaming, while Nate laughs it off and cracks wise.
Well, to be fair, the main characters in Uncharted (both male and female) act like a bunch of absolute fucking psychopaths.
Cracking jokes and casually bantering as they gun down hundreds of mooks, narrowly escape burning buildings and other hazards and sneak into countless incredibly dangerous places in the name of... well, loot, basically? Occasionally something will happen that makes them somewhat upset, but then they'll be quickly back to joking around. I think crying and screaming would be a more sensible reaction for a normal person of either gender, y'know? :P
At least until they were some seasoned veteran, and then they'd probably be more of a tense, silent type with crippling PTSD than a roguish, happy-go-lucky jokester.

You're right and all but...  While it isn't *emphasized* in Metroid... Samus sorta does the same.  "Space Pirates" are a race of sentient creatures she mows down without any remorse.  Four times, the last on their actual homeworld (Corruption).

That's all fairly justifiable though, she's mostly just clearing dangerous bandits as part of a mercenary contract (and assisting in a pre-existing intergalactic war in the homeworld case).  In the first two cases it's Zebes, the world where she were raised and where the pirates slaughtered her adoptive parents.

Not Adam FLIPPING Malkovich, but the Chozo.

But in Metroid 2 she kinda slaughters an entire race of beings (metroids) down to the penultimate one.  Then takes the sole survivor and sells it to scientists for energy research.  Samus was a stone cold, even vicious, badass.

(Other M says "Oh wait she was obsessed with being a mother to that baby [she sold] and would hesitate for like 15 seconds when facing a metroid [she exterminated the race of] and is short and the Prime series didn't happen" aaaargh)

It should also be noted that Samus' fuckhughness is also essentially a plot point, as while it is not stated even the most casual look at things suggests the genetic modifications she received from the Chozo as a child are responsible. In everything that considers it other than Other M, Samus is freakishly, inhumanly fast and strong. That's before the Phazon corruption, the X-parasite, and the Metroid DNA to nullify the X-parasite.
I guess the official word is still that Other M is canon and the excellent Prime series isn't...  But I still hold hope that they'll softly reverse that.  Sweep Other M under the rug.  It was almost universally panned, after all.  If Sakamoto hadn't designed the earlier Metroids as well, it would be as forgotten as Hunters.
As I told you a year ago the last time we collectively hated on Other M, that idea is mistranslated. Nothing has been booted out of canon, what Sakamoto said was that he didn't consider the Prime series while making Other M, something which is rather obvious from the end product.

On the other hand, the next Metroid game isn't even going to be about Samus, so...series in limbo, really.
The events of Prime would have come before Other M, and clash too much...  Counting Prime, she would have faced Ridley 7 times before Other M.  Which makes her breakdown even more absurd.  She also specifically says that it's the first time she's worked with the Galactic Federation since leaving Adam, which is a specific "Fuck off" to Metroid Prime 3.  He wasn't "unaware" of Prime, he was just a jealous hack with an unfortunately large platform.

Reading up recently on Alcoholics Anonymous. They're basically an evil cult, slightly lower on the evilometer than Scientology, but AA dresses it up much more effectively with the public relations. People freak out if you try and tell them this because saying AA is evil is like saying you kill puppies for fun, but if you start researching the organization, they're pretty high on the evil mind control route.

Nobody wants to believe they're bad, but they don't cure anyone, they convince them that they're diseased for life, it's out of your control and only continual AA membership will prevent you having some sort of nasty death. So it infantilizes you, makes you feel powerless then offers the group as the only salvation. Step 12 of the 12 steps is to go out and get more members for the organization. Basically they guilt-trip you if you get sober then want to go about your own life, they keep you in a conversation about alcohol for life, keep you as a member and nobody moves on.

Don't know about the logo, but they are evil. Trust me, if you have an alcoholic friend, send them to a qualified medical specialist, not a 12 step program or "rehab" (similarly broken, except they're more like money-hungry vultures. Neither AA or rehab have > 10% success rates and both industries lie about the figures). "12 steps" is bible indoctrination basically.

They tell in codified language that you are a sinner, you're only sober one day a time due to magical God rays that he shines down on you for being an AA member. If you stop going to AA, the God Rays will stop and you'll end up dying in the gutter of alcohol poisoning any day now. So in other words they use fear to control members and convince you that you'll literally die because constant group membership is the only thing protecting you from the evil drink - for life. No cure offered here, move along.

If you do get or stay sober through some way that doesn't involve constant AA membership, they're not even happy for you, they have a slander for that called a "dry drunk", which means you may be sober, but you're spiritually damaged and other members are not encouraged to have anything to do with you. I really do wish I was making any of this up.

Insofar as I can unbork the image, it's unbork'd.

Wait, seriously? "Dry Drunk"? What the fuck.
