looks like not only was the mysterious absence of stuff to do at work was, as i'd feared, a technical error instead of a genuine lack of anybody submitting articles for review

and it was a busy week, too

11 papers got pushed into the queue at once this morning once they fixed the glitch, and i don't have time to properly dedicate to catching the fuck up

i pray only that the coming weeks are dead due to professors busy dealing with exams and grading instead of doing science

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Tonight's going to be a busy, busy night to finish my course. It might be one take apiece to record each of the final videos, or I might spend another three hours tonight before I just throw my hands up and use whatever I have, late at night after having spent my entire day on campus. And even once I get them recorded, I have to edit them. And then there's my art final, which I can't even tell if I've made any progress on because wood block prints are an invention of Satan.

Yeah I'm reluctant to call them panic attacks. I was phobic of dogs when I was younger, I've had full-blown-hyperventilating-tears-blind-terror-phobia-induced panic attacks and...they were on a whole other level of 'nope'. This is just an odd episode when walking around, I can actually regulate my breathing and ignore the part of my brain that's all "no seriously just crawl into the fetal position over there".
I'd call it anxiety attacks.

i havent studied enough by far, im really fucking scared.
and i havent studied enough because i feel like shit and would rather do stuff so i dont think about this all the fucking time
i really just feel like a pile of unattractive, undesirable garbage right now, especially compared to... anybody else, basically. what is even the point in trying. i kill conversations just by being there

i thought i was going not to stress out about shit and feel ok for a while for once but nope
did i mention that i dont have therapy until january, and it'll be a new therapist

My antidepressants and anxiety meds are causing embarassing side-effects again. Luckily they're also powerful enouh to keep me from getting too stressed about it.

Wow. Just...Wow.

Trump's not looking so bad now, is he? I've said it before and I'll say it again, all the Republican candidates are scum, some are just less obvious.

EDIT:
Plus, all of them are devout Christians, so that's a big tipoff that they're all looney right there; just like anyone else who seriously believes in an organized western religion.

And on this day Bohandas was euphoric, not because of any phony god's blessing, but because he was enlightened by his own intelligence.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.
