He didn't learn to love, he was programmed to love from the start.
Nah but he learns to have meaningful emotional relationships, rather than the nuanceless stuff near the beginning.

@TempAcc
That's the thing though. She merely kicked it off, and when I started spiralling into depression she distanced herself quite quickly. So in the end I did most of the damage because I couldn't really stop myself. When you really open up to someone for the first time in ever and they just push you away when you really need them, that kinda messes you up. And now I'm kinda better and her offer of being friends still stands, I really want to, but I'm not sure what feelings might return once we start hanging out again and I have no idea how she would react to it all.
So I'm sitting here, considering my options, I'm fine as is for the most part and I can keep being fine if I just stay away. Or I can risk being fine for being better. Past expiriences and my own insecurities are screaming no, but the other equally irational part of me which longs for connection and company is screaming yes.

Thanks a lot to everyone who listened to my problems the past few days.  (Particularly last night, jeez, I drank too much).  It meant a lot and really kept me from losing control.  Years ago when I didn't have this place to (over)share, I would have just bottled everything up and eventually lost control.  It's crazy how much easier it is to maintain control when I can share what I'm thinking, even with relative strangers.

I always read every post in this thread, I just don't feel capable of giving advice most of the time.  But you're all being heard by others, even if nobody actually replies.

This thread probably saved my relationship with my father this week, not even exaggerating.  Thanks.

And I've made the decision to not do it. I was going to, but on a complete accident, while typing in the paradox forums adress the adress of her blog popped in as a suggestion. I've read her last entry, a couple of months ago. She's found someone who can offer her all the things I failed to and I think she's better off without me anywhere in her life.

I'll go and get drunk at a gig now.

... well, paris is apparently getting fucked up right hard at the moment. Seems to be at least a dozen dead, over a hundred wounded, multiple shoot-outs, possible explosions, one or more hostage situations... still ongoing, whatever it is, but it's looking pretty nasty. No reputable word about the who and why, yet, so far as I've been able to tell. Bad day for france, and gods know the aftermath is probably going to be worse...

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

The France situation is pretty insane.
Especially sad is that one of the larger (?- haven't had time to research it much, I just woke up) attacks occurred at a concert by a band I actually like. Also I foolishly read the comments on the article... not a good way to start the day. :-\

Alright, I'm full time watching news. Annoyingly, they keep switching back to a local crash story. Still, France situation is shaping up to easily be France's 9/11.

I thought the train was in Belgium (or maybe I'm thinking of a different incident) and I hadn't heard of the chemical plant one.

Probably wise to let that thread chill overnight for a couple hours though.

Made a thread specifically about the attacks. We need a place to talk, I guess.

People don't like me as much as I want them to like me. This bothers me, and knowing how petty that is bothers me as well.
