The whole Yale thing is fucking disgusting. These smug collegiate leftist assholes come up to talk about how the university is supposed to protect their feels while they harass reporters and professors. You can tell how they just want it to be violent. These are probably the same motherfuckers who spent their childhoods bullying anybody they could get their hands on. Same show, different mask.

I'd swear I almost want ignorant rednecks instead.

I'd take the rednecks. I get rednecks. The screeching girl at the end of that video is just embarrassing. At least the people arguing with the man were civil in the beginning. Misguided at best, but civil.

I am too hype for Fallout 4 and as a result I cannot sleep. Or pee. Or do anything but fucking stare unblinking at the goddamn clock for fucking midnight to roll around so I can play the game in the most miserable state I can manage.
Oh hey, Australia has had it for hours. 13 of them in fact. Gotta love them rolling releases.
Not to rub it in.

Actually, I still have to wait for payday, so either way I'm not playing it for days.

I know I'm a scrub, reposting from reddit, but this made me sad today.

Don't worry about the commentary too much, this was just the only video I could find that showed the whole incident. I have a lot of respect for the professor though. I certainly wouldn't have lasted that long.

There has to be a point where this whole "muh feelings" movement becomes too silly to continue. A line that it crosses where serious issues seem as extreme and absurd as a parody. I think we should call that the Poe line.

If you're going to freeze cane toads then make sure you leave them in there for at least a day. We had to bring our own toads in to dissect in biology once and after 4-5 hours some still had beating hearts once they were opened up.

I can't freeze the cane toads. They get freed.
I mean, the original post was pages ago, so the meaning has kinda blurred.

Maybe it's the Poe event horizon?

But yeah, I honestly have no idea what the issue is. The sardonic text of the youtube video kind of pushed their opinion in my face, which I don't like.
So I ended up skipping bits.
Far as I can tell, his department released an email saying (long winded) try not to dress up as anything offensive for halloween, we don't want to make anyone feel unwelcome. To which his wife then sent out another email saying 'Are we really living in a society where you're not free to express yourself?'
A few black students then asked him to apologize for his wife's insensitivity, and he politely declined, which caused a bunch of people to have a tanty.

So I personally can't comment on who was in the right, and who were special snowflakes. Seeing as this particular issue was a racism issue, and everyone is varying levels of sensitive about that.

Not quite. The department sent out an email saying, in effect, that "if you are white, any costume of a nonwhite character (such as Mulan or the girl from The Princess and The Frog) or that contains imagry from a nonwhite culture is fundamentally offensive cultural appropriationg and should be avoided". He wrote a rather long response that skewered the concept of cultural appropriation, and concluded with something along the lines of "even if we were able to universally define what is or is not offensive, seeking to avoid offense at all costs is not a particularly healthy attitude."

This has produced an extremely nasty backlash.

I think somebody is in need of a sit down and discussion about the effect of came toads on nature. Maybe force him/her to watch a documentary on the matter.

Cane toads are serious business.

Stayed up until 1 in the morning.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Why do I do this. I don't want to go to sleep but I don't want to feel guilt over staying up late and mucking up my plans for the next day either.

I don't get why people are set on murdering toads. We introduced them years ago, shouldn't we learn from our mistakes and stop trying to fuck with nature? Goodness me.

My main sad right now: travelled one stop on the train on my way back from work only to discover a bunch of ticket inspectors camping the station entrance. Usually they just hassle people on the train... anyway, now it looks like I'll be hit with a large fine when the reason I was fare-evading is because I can't afford to pay the exorbitant PT prices in the first place (and am being made to attend 'work' a couple of suburbs away or else lose my unemployment pay).

Unless I can appeal the charge and bullshit my way out of it, I guess. Hopefully.

You certainly are not alone, that's all I can say.
Going to sleep is a pain in the arse, staying awake and feeling terrible the next day is even more of one.

To take the Hitler analogy further, just imagine the cane toads as a group of Neo-Nazis squatting in your yard, and the native species they kill as Jews.

Nobody want Nazis in their yard except Nazis.

If you're willing to risk horrible death by carbon monoxide poisoning, you could always shut the toads into a box or bucket (something with high walls they can't easily escape from), cover the top with a wet towel, and run a hose from a running car's exhaust pipe into the container. I heard that sometimes folks kill stray unwanted animals that way.

I like how you all can't agree on whether the toads are the nazis or the jews
Well, the analogy doesn't apply completely because people generally don't put Nazis in bags and drown them.

...No it's not?
Introducing them was fucking with nature, now killing them is fucking with nature.
If we stopped fucking with nature things would sort themselves out- our rapid expansion and destruction of habitat is far more harmful to these endangered species people pretend to care about than a few goddamn toads.
