That´s why the farm boys have less frequency of asthma than the city boys.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Believe it or not, even the simplest art is usually good enough for others. What matters is whether it's good enough for yourself. And it eventually will be if you keep practising, as your skill improves and expectations become more realistic due to experience. If you feel something you made is inadequate, try to find what exactly it is that makes it so, and focus your practice on that.

It can actually be good you're harsh on yourself, because that means you want to become better. There are artists in various arts who think they're so good they don't need to try and become better. They don't see the flaws in their work, so how could they fix them?

Equally important to perseverance is the ability to enjoy the thing. If you don't enjoy making art itself, rather than just loathing your products, it's completely fine to give it up and find a hobby you like.

My horror movie marathon plans for today were disrupted by my parents suddenly deciding to make me do a bunch of pointless yardwork. I wish we lived in the desert or something, then I wouldn't have this problem.
Nah, look at Las Vegas. If you lived in the desert, you'd still have to do yardwork, but you'd have the added pain of knowing you're participating in a water-wasteful activity in a water-strapped area.

For what it's worth, there is a good chance the spider was dead and you were witnessing postmortem muscle contractions. Or whatever you call random activation of the hydraulic system that extends their legs.
This... Spider legs often keep twitching a while after being detached. Same thing probably.
I try to be nice to spiders since they kill more dangerous pests and are harmless and shy where I live. They do skeeve me out though. I crush bigger ones, or occasionally take them outside on a sheet of paper.
