While a friend of the family was visiting they saw a rat crawling around in the house. Cue a frantic hunt of the rat, in which we cornered it in a drawer and my dad went to get his handy dandy pellet gun and shot it in the head.

Woo. Feeling like some redneck white trash right now. Considering the fustercluck of stuff that is my parent's house, it's probably fitting. Still. Not a fun feeling.

That is certainly a crappy situation. I'm bad at words so you can have an imaginary cup of tea.

But don't despair! We still love you and think you're great, no matter what. Unless you do something really shitty, but you didn't, so don't worry about that.

I don't know what to suggest, but I feel like you'll be able to come up with solutions eventually.  You know a lot about things and you did a good thing, so please please don't give up.
Or give up by switching careers, if it tragically comes to that.  I just wish everyone was so brave and selfless, the world would be a better place.

Been on hiatus for awhile due to emotions. I think I'm fine now but felt my past couple months of sads could be posted

I've been really terribly anti-social lately. Basically, I have great friends who actively make an effort to be friends with me. I turn really terrible and push them all away though, and it's a wonder they still talk to me. I've been actively avoiding speaking with any of them for a few weeks because I just...don't have the energy to deal with people right now. I just want to sit inside, do the work that I have, and then go back to school in a couple weeks. I've really been letting people down and disappointing them. :/

Truean:  Let me know if there's anything I can do.  If you ever want to talk more openly than you can with a forum post, you can always PM me, or we can set up other means of contact.

@Truean: I just want you to know that even though we've never directly interacted (the happy/sad threads I mostly lurk at), you always have come off as a really great, inspiring, and kind person to me, and I always have sympathy for you and hope things go well for you. It's not much, but that's what I have to say, and I'm sure everything will be alright for you at some point in the future :(

Also, I remembered The Nicest Place on the Internet web page which has cheered me up at least a bit.

It came up "web page not available" for me, and until it actually loaded I thought you were having some sort of twisted joke :P

Slowly but surely climbing through the ranks of the German tank tree in War Thunder.

With good flanking, hull down tactics, and careful aim to hit the enemy's weak points, I can take down the enemy T-34s.

The T-34s on the other hand just need to lay on the gas and shoot me literally anywhere to kill me in one hit.

is balance tovarisch ))))

EDIT:  I'm gonna persevere though.  I'm being baptized in fire.  I'm learning how to use my tank's strengths to overcome a superior foe.  Meanwhile Ivan is learning how to ape spaz.  Once I've got my post-war Leopard we'll see who's laughing.

Considering that the T-34 was either the best or second-best medium tank of the war at any given time, and German tanks were generally garbage, this is quite realistic.

I've managed to give myself a massive migraine each day for the last 4 days.  Between trying to sort out problems for other people, to attempting to be empathtic which comes really hard to me and even overwhelming boredum at work with nothing to do.

I slept great, awoke refreshed, had an excellent morning and now three hours later my temple is already throbbing from today.  Gonna end up going to bed early once more in excruciating pain, I can already tell...

German tanks were generally garbage
Wait, what? Over-engineered, yes, but garbage? Not that patriotism is appropriate when talking about the Nazi killing machine, but the German tanks from WWII are usually held to be fine examples of German engineering...
