Could probably use flour like the latkes I make sometimes.

I am sad that you people have such horribly mangled palates. Mashed potatoes and rice are simply lovely. I have eaten an entire dinner plate of nothing but mashed potatoes and gravy before. (Gravy is key.)

I have at least three kinds of rice in the pantry at all times, in big 40lb bags -- jasmine, basmati, ponlai, and a 5lb bag of sweet rice.

Mashed potatoes are probably the single greatest food ever created. Potatoes are a far better proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy than beer ever will be (and that's no insult to beer). Gravy is usually not great, but I've learned to make it myself with less salt and it can be quite lovely then.

The correct method is to use about half the weight of potatoes in dairy products. Not milk, either. We're talking butter, cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar, pepper jack, maybe heavy cream if you need some liquid. So good. Leave the skins in! Saves you effort, makes it healthier, and gives it some nice texture. Don't mash the potatoes too finely, either; having some chunkiness to it also contributes nicely to the texture.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Intentionally leaving mashed potatoes with lumps somehow just doesn't make sense to me. The skins thing is okay, I agree on the dairy, but lumps... eeeh.

Chewy starch nuggets can be fun in my opinion.  Same reason I add chopped meat nuggets sometimes.  Though that's more a soup/stew thing...

A friend of mine seems to have a guilt complex so severe that if he screws up he will avoid any mention of it happening. The worst part is I'm starting to suspect him of lying about things he Has done, if he thinks he can get away with it.
I am the complete opposite of this, and beginning to become infuriated.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Mastah currently has no internet, and that includes his wife, too.

Potato is life, so mashed potato is good life.

Good grub from potato is mixing mashed potatos to fried minced meat and onion, couple of eggs and milk and cheese, then bake it in oven. Delishus.

Since I still have a bizarrely long-lasting cold bronchitis, it looks like I'm going to have to do all of my tests on a single make-up day, unless I recover by Friday. I have six tests. I'm not sure it's even possible to do them all in one day, honestly. On top of that, I missed the last week and a half of my creative writing course, which I was really enjoying. All this on top of the fact that bronchitis is pretty awful, and I'm not exactly happy.
